What makes a school part of the Network of Sacred Heart Schools. Is that an english speaking thing? Is there some kind of membership required? Is it enough for members of Sacred Heart to preside over the school? Is it enough for members of Sacred Heart to have presided over the school? In case of the latter you might consider adding these: Sacré Cœur Pressbaum (Austria), Sacré Cœur Rennweg (Vienna,Austria), Sophie-Barat-Schule(Hamburg, Germany)+sister school, Herz Jesu Schule (Berlin, Germany), Sankt-Adelheid-Gymnasium (Bonn-Pützchen, Germany) - some?/several? of them still have Sacré Cœur headmasters. The purpose of the Network is to provide education, services and programs to further Sacred Heart education in the United States. Each member institution in the Network of Sacred Heart Schools is governed by an independent Board of Trustees. Membership in the Network is dependent upon commitment to the philosophy of and formal accountability to the Society of the Sacred Heart.

The List[edit]

Now that I have expanded the list, it seems to me that it's way too long. Maybe the international schools don't belong here after all. Should they remain in this article, be split off to another article, or be deleted altogether? Comments? —Travis C/T\U 19:39, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unless there is a reasonable objection, I will split this article as noted in my comment below. If one takes the title of this article into consideration, it shouldn't be simply a list, but a proper encyclopedic article. The Network of Sacred Heart Schools consists solely of primary and secondary schools in the United States. Clearly, this list includes just about every school even affiliated with the Society of the Sacred Heart. I am considering splitting this into two articles: one for the members of the Network and another for the rest of the Sacred Heart schools, i.e. List of Sacred Heart Schools worldwide. A Proposal[edit]

This is a valuable list and as such I think it needs to exist in its entirety somewhere. As such I propose that this be made into a disambiguation page (Relocated to "Sacred Heart School" and/or "Sacred Heart Academy") and then the non-network schools be removed from this list. User:Celeritas just deleted a school in Canada from the list.

His comment suggests that the canadian schools as part of the Network of SHS. Is that the case?

I thought the article lists all Sacred Heart Schools. If the other two canadian schools are part of the network, maybe they should be listed in the upper part as a member school. -- JanCK (talk) 11:41, 11 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]


  • The school I deleted from the International list is (unless I'm wrong) in fact not a member of the Network of Sacred Heart Schools at all (the school's own wikipedia page doesn't mention or link to the Network's wiki page, again unless I missed one). The other two schools, however, are (the only) Canadian private schools officially associated with the Society of the Sacred Heart. I'm a little confused about this bit, but this means they are 'members' with some association with the Society of the Sacred Heart, but are not part of the "Network of Sacred Heart Schools (in the United States)". I think you are right. The school's (Sacred Heart High School, Yorkton) wikipedia page says that the school was founded by the order Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate. As far as I understand, it couldn't really have be part of the Networt of Sacred Heart Schools anyhow, as this is a US-only group. (Though Canada might maybe be an exception.) So not linking to this article might not be uncommon for school's outside the US affiliate to the Society of the Sacred Heart -- JanCK (talk) 09:31, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What is this network?[edit]

Hi,

I think this article should contain some more information about the Network of Sacred Heart Schools. What is it? The only thing the article says is who the members are and that there might be some connection to the Society of the Sacred Heart. Does anyone know something about this network?

  • Who is administrating it?
  • Is there a headquarter somewhere?
  • Is it growing or shrinking?
  • How are the schools connected?
  • Is there some information exchange or maybe a student exchange?
  • How independent are the schools?
  • Are the headmasters meeting each other regularly?
  • Are all headmasters actually headmistresses and are they sisters in the society?
  • Since when does the network exists?
  • How is it financed?
  • Is money given to it tax deductible?
  • Are some activities shared? Maybe they are taking classtrips together? Organizing choir-exchanges?

This article is pretty much just a big list of all the schools that can be named as being a part of the "Network." It occurs to me that if you want to expand on actual details about the network itself, instead of just listing every school there is, shouldn't the list be moved to a "List of Network Sacred Heart Schools" article, with this article changed into more of a detailed over-view of the overall network? Otherwise adding info in with the complete list makes for a pretty long article... Celeritas (talk) 12:52, 13 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
