BAFTA?[edit]

81.174.146.64 09:17, 9 October 2007 (UTC)I'd be very interested to see some reference material that officially shows that this show ever won a BAFTA. I have done a comprehensive trawl of the BAFTA.org website's archive of winners and winning titles and cannot find evidence that this show won the award. Does anyone know of a reference that is correct?[reply]

Many thanks...81.174.146.64 09:17, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I still don't see references for this supposed BAFTA either. Unless somebody can do better, I'm going to delete the BAFTA reference. I can't even find mention of a BAFTA nomination for the show. I'm not convinced it ever won one, as the commitment to news and social issues was extremely superficial. I can remember being in the N7 studio participating in a Network 7 debate on overseas aid. Charlie Parsons stopped the recording and told us: 'I don't want to hear a reasoned debate, I want a row!' Centrepull (talk) 20:01, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Innovative?[edit]

The use of “innovative” without any support dosen’t sound encyclopædic, but that aside, the description is followed by a statement that it was influenced by “Max Headroom” and “Tiswas” – so therefore “derivative”? I’m not saying that it wasn’t innovative, butit needs to be shown *why* it was so… Jock123 (talk) 11:00, 23 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Spitting Image Spoof[edit]

An editor has twice removed an entry from the 'Spoofs' section of this article, namely "Spitting Image featured a Network 7 spoof where an interviewer asked God to sum up the meaning of life in 9 seconds." - at first claiming that this was unsourced (which is true - like the rest of the section), secondly claiming that it was a "spoof of various programmes, including Def II and the Chart Show" - which is incorrect. Spitting Image did spoof Def II and The Chart Show, and it's one of the clips you get if you type 'spitting image network 7' into YouTube. [[1]] - However, that's not the spoof that is mentioned here, which certainly did exist and is well-remembered - for example it is cited on the cookd and bombd forums (Wikipedia does not allow a direct link) as being one of the clips that are frequently pulled out when Network 7 is discussed on other programmes. The fact that it is a brief moment in a copyrighted television series, which makes it hard to reference with a link, but the sketch in question is present on the DVD release [[2]] of the series. Right at the top of the editing box it says "Encyclopedic content must be verifiable". The spoof referred to was an episode that seemed to spoof various programmes, including Def II and the Chart Show. The spoof also never referred to Network 7, although it DID refer to Def II (in the musical number with Janet Street Porter). Some people seem to think this episode was a spoof of Network 7. That's fine. But where's the source? A Youtube video and forum discussion are not reliable sources. 86.139.113.119 (talk) 17:09, 7 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It can be verified by viewing the correct sketch on the commercially released DVDs. The 'God' interview is conducted about 18m50s into episode 2 of series 5. [[3]] For that reason, I've reverted your removal of the content from the article. Bonusballs (talk) 20:43, 7 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
