National Resistance Movement established participatory democracy through a policy of decentralisation and self-governance through local councils, <<leading to political empowerment of the people and social harmony>>.

By what metric? This is an unfalsifiable and unverifiable opinion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1:927E:F6C2:955C:1CD:CBD7:EEB1 (talk) 11:28, 16 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

How do we know it's right wing now?[edit]

It used to be a Marxist-Leninist party but now is seen as right wing populist? Did the economic policies change? From what I can see, it's a syncretic party with left-wing economics but socially conservative, much like a lot of Eastern European socialist parties. 72.72.200.204 (talk) 14:31, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

While economics can be placed on a Right-Left spectrum, the political Right has never been universally defined as economically Right, rather the social and cultural positions are what such parties are truly defined by. IkonicDeath (talk) 05:41, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
https://votesonline.org/party/national-resistance-movement-uganda Describes it as formerly a marxist party that shifted to Right-wing populism and conservatism. It wouldn't be the only party to do so, Cambodian People's Party was original a communist party but became a conservative one. It should at least be listed as big tent, I don't see how saying the party is left-wing and bringing up "marxist and socialist" policies that don't even exist in the party anymore that has also descriminates against LGBT people which is generally almost always Right-Wing is going to help.
