Leonardo Manecio aka NARDONG PUTIK

On February 10, 1971, the NBI Narcotics division raided the marijuana plantation in Imus Cavite allegedly being protected by Nardong Putik. The National Bureau of Investigation is the counterpart of the USA Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Two NBI Agents/Lawyer by the name of Rogelio Domingo and Antonio Dayao were captured and killed by Nardong Putik and his men. As a retaliation, the then NBI Director Jolly Bugarin ordered all his Agents to capture dead or alive Nardo and all responsible for the death of the two NBI Agents. At that time, Nardo was so famous because allegedly he has an amulet that can make him disappear in the mud and escape. NBI Agent Epimaco Velasco was then installed as the new Chief of NBI Narcotics division. In month time, they were able to record the movement of Nardo Putik. 5:00 in the morning, the light of the house of the mistress of Nardo will come out. After few minutes, Nardo will drive his Chevy impala car. For unknown reason or maybe Nardong Putik senses that he is being tailed by the Philippine Constabulary, he was able to escape the dragnet or checkpoint by Philippine Constabulary in Panamitan and Talon, Kawit, Cavite. However, Nardong Putik did not notice that the the Volkswagen Kombi in the highway was the vehicle used by the NBI Agents. Agent VELASCO, NASOL, UTITCO, BAUTISTA and others chase the Impala car of Nardo and shouted " NARDO". Without verifying, the Agents peppered the car with bullets coming from thier carbine, 38 rovolvers and submachine guns. The Agents immedietely jumped in thier vehicle and take cover. Some Agents were still firing thier guns to make sure that Nardo will not retaliate. Nardo learned his lesson. His amulet has no match in the guns of the NBI Agents. On his death, some of his men were charged in court fro murder. see Philppine Supreme court decision no. GR No. L-36613-14 entitled as PEOPLE OF THE PHILIPPINES, plaintiff-appelle, vs. RESTITUTO JIMENEZ, PEDRO NAVAL, MACARIO FRANCISCO, MAMERTO MENDOZA, and MARIO SALAZAR, defendant-appellants.
