Nascar Racing 2003 Community[edit]

We should start a second page for information on the large sites that support the game still, like Masgrafx, Superspeedway.net, etc, etc. And just include a link to it at the end of this article.

That wouldn't be a terribly bad idea with the exception that a lot of sites come and go (like the return of TRG) [Phathead]

.[edit]

I wanna know the genius that deleated all the links to the different sites was. i agree it was a long list but to delete them all is stupid.

What happened?[edit]

This article was once good, but now it's crap. Like ^ said, what happened to all the download sites? The one link is a link for an Apple server. And, where is the car list? --Bears54 03:29, 14 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I second that, I was the one who originally created this page (at least in its current state) and there are too many damned people playing around in it. --Phathead

Wikipiedia is not a link repository, it's an article about the game itself. I'm sure that's why the links were removed. Even the many that are still here are out of place. 162.136.192.1 (talk) 15:39, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Concerning NR2003 backup tutorials[edit]

To the person that keeps deleting the link to my NR2003 back-up tutorials. This is taken from the Nascar Racing 2003 End User License Agreement:

10. Limitations on License. Nothing in this License Agreement shall preclude you from making or authorizing the making of another copy or adaptation of the Program provided, however, that (1) such new copy or adaptation is created as an essential step in your utilization of the Program in accordance with the terms of this License Agreement and for NO OTHER PURPOSE; or (2) such new copy or adaptation is for archival purposes ONLY and all archival copies are destroyed in the event of your Transfer of the Program, the Termination of this Agreement or other circumstances under which your continued use of the Program ceases to be rightful.

You have to have the original game disk for either of these tutorials to work, you can't make copies of a copy, they won't work. Even if someone were to make more than one copy, with the intention to "share" the game, they still have to have a valid cd key for each install, which only comes printed on the insert inside the case itself, along with the original game disk inside that case. I have links to the same tutorial on NR2003's publisher's (Sierra) forum. If they don't have a problem with me posting links to my tutorials on their own forum, I don't see what the problem is with posting the same links here. Also, what's the use of having an external link section, if you keep deleting the links? Why even bother about talking about the mods, painting, races, etc... If the links to the sites where the info, downloads, and tools are available from, keep getting deleted? Shanel1972 02:49, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

UPDATE: Even iRacing, via email, said it was ok to make a back-up copy of NR2003

Here is a link to the tutorial http://www.perrycountyforum.com/hdimage/

Compatibility[edit]

How about adding a compatibility section? --oKtosiTe talk 23:18, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:NR2003Render.png[edit]

Image:NR2003Render.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Unsuitable for wikipedia[edit]

I feel that some of the information regarding the modifications available on NR2003 are irrelevant for wikipedia, and are more suited to games wikis etc.Richard n 16:50, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That may be, but the way the community has kept this game relevant over the years is rather unprecedented in a sports/simulation game. Phathead (talk) —Preceding undated comment was added at 23:04, 26 December 2008 (UTC).[reply]
