Someone keeps trying to sneek this sentence in:

Often Jimmy Pio will cut in over the music with a microphone asking the riders "do you want to go backwards" If yes is the answer then the ride speed is increased.

It's should read Often the ride operator will cut in over the music with a microphone asking the riders "do you want to go faster" If yes is the answer then the ride speed is increased.

IMO, a Flying Bobs cannot be considered to be a Musik Express. The Flying Bobs is the american version of the Matterhorn, a completely different ride also manufactured by Mack. I recommend removing the Flying Bobs reference from the page.

Export versions of the Musik Express were called the Super Himalaya, including the one at the now defunct Palisades Amusement Park in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey. That ride was imported to the United States, as were most German rides, by Morgan "Mickey" Hughes who had exclusive rights to represent Mack in the U.S. and Canada.

Regular Himalayas were nothing like the Musik Express except in general intent. Comparing them is like comparing a subcompact to a van. I suggest modifying the reference to clarify this.

While the Musik Express/Super Himalaya version was built by Mack, many models were customized for Julius Kinzler, a German ride operator, including the one that existed at Coney Island's Astroland Park from 1969 until ???, which was imported and originally operated by Horst Kant and later owned by Astroland's owner, Jerry Albert.

Another version of the Musik Express ride was the "Hit-In 2000".1 The primary difference between this and the Musik Express was that the "Hit-In 2000" had a hexagon-shaped roof structure as opposed to the rectangular structure of the Musik Express. The ride graphics had a nature theme of ladybugs, butterflies and flowers.

In the early 1970s, the price2 of a Musik Express intended for permanent installation was $205,000. The price of a portable model with a hydraulic roof was $255,000.

This and other similar rides came with high-powered "disco" sound systems. The Musik Express was generally imported with a sound system made by a German company called Dyna (no relationship to the U.S. Dynaco). The system consisted of two 140 watt amplifiers. One amplifier drove 9 bass bins and the other amplifier drove three sets of speaker systems mounted below the roof. The distribution system operated on the European standard 100 volts. Both amplifiers contained graphic equalizers, unusual for the time. They were connected to a preamplifier/mixer containing vertical faders, also unusual for the time. The preamplifier/mixer contained a circuit that lowered the music volume when the microphone was used. Because of the extreme vibration from the ride, the turntable had to be mounted on an independent suspension system. Generally, a hole was cut in the floor of the operators booth and the turntable sat on a platform that was attached to the ground.

Note: I operated the Flying Bobs at Palisades Amusement Park in the summer of 1968 and I also operated the Musik Express in Coney Island from 1969-1972.
