Needs cleanup[edit]

This page is a mess! Lots of grammar and spelling errors, and a few redundancies. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.96.194.132 (talk) 16:24, 10 December 2009‎

Honest signals[edit]

I think this page could be more informative by stating that females also have sexual ornaments that males can choose from and maybe giving an example at the start of what an ornament may be. This would help the layperson to understand what a sexual ornament is at the start of the article making it a bit easier to read.

Also a section on Honest Signals could be included as that is an important part of sexual selection that ensures the males cannot lie to the females, in order to mate with them.DishaK94 (talk) 15:30, 2 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Redudant signals[edit]

The redundant signal is also called the back-up signal.[1] This should be noted in the content.

The explanation of multiple messages hypothesis and redundant signal hypothesis are similar that readers might get confused. it would be better to state out the difference of multiple messages hypothesis is about different signal reflects the same aspect of quality, whereas redundant signals hypothesis is about different aspect. Other than the differences, the relationship between the two hypotheses is interesting too. An example is mate choice in two antelopes.[2]

The last sentence "There has been some empirical support of this hypothesis." is not enough in evaluating the hypothesis.[3]

Page merge proposal[edit]

Should this page be merged to Biological ornament? And be created as a section on that page, rather than have its own page? Nicolehyare (talk) 12:31, 3 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
