Is it noteworthy that Pierre de Troyes passed by?[edit]

I noticed your comments in your edit about this article (pointing out distance between it and Moose Factory) and so I added an extra source as verification. I also found a less reliable source and did not add it in, but it mapped the journey. Basically it was a very long journey, but his passing there was noted by those who documented the history.

I thought I would follow up here so that other editors of this article could follow along. I was hoping to find a WP:RS that stated that Pierre de Troyes wrote about Mount Cheminis, or even better, a WP:RS source covers de Troyes' description of Mount Cheminis. The 2006 HighGrader Magazine article states that Pierre de Troyes led his band through the area. (Oddly, I was probably a subscriber to the HighGrader at the time the article was written.) The 2019 North Bay Nugget article states that de Troyes led his troops on the "voyageur water highway" that passes by Mount Cheminis. Hudson_Bay_expedition_(1686) says "The route was up the Ottawa River to Lake Temiskaming, then over portages and down the Abitibi River and Moose River." My point is that de Troyes passed many locations that now have Wikipedia articles and unless de Troyes specifically described those locations, then it is probably not worth mentioning. The article might be better without mentioning de Troyes. Cxbrx (talk) 04:35, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I don't have any strong feelings about it. That a newspaper reported it suggested to me it was notable, and then because of your comment, I found a magazine article that also noted it. So I am taking my cues from them, they seemed to think it was notable. I don't mind. If you want to delete that history from the article, I don't object. CT55555 (talk) 04:44, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I removed the sentence. 05:15, 2 May 2022 (UTC)

Hello. Somewhere there may be reference to "Signpost in the Wilderness". That was what de Troyes expedition called Cheminis. It was used for a navigation landmark. Larder River Waterway.. MsMisinformation (talk) 12:35, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I see. So it did play a notable role in his journey? Is the source online? CT55555 (talk) 12:42, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The reference is in his diary from the expedition. The members of the expedition truly used it as and referred to it as "Signpost in the Wilderness" MsMisinformation (talk) 07:46, 4 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

They travelled the Blanche and Wendigo Rivers MsMisinformation (talk) 08:51, 4 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please provide reliable, secondary sources to back this up. Mako001 (C)  (T)  🇺🇦 11:54, 4 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
