Matters of Formality versus Matters of Style[edit]

Just an idea: Should we distinguish between that which is given by formality versus that which is a matter of style, (subsets being which style in which era and why) ?

The specification of the type of dress seems to be quite short: Tail coat, waistcoat, trousers, top hat.

Style: Trousers no turn ups with a lower hem at the back. Style: Colors: Black, Grey. Sometimes black tail coat, striped trousers black/grey.

Style: What wearers of morning dress wear to state occasions, and why Style: What wearers of morning dress wear to weddings, and why

  • I'm not sure what you mean here. Style is a guideline to which standards of dress is set. There are variations during different eras but essentially they all harmonise and are logical in the whole scheme of things. As for ocassion, the details are already highlighted clearly: generally, black for funeral and business and state (with decorations), other colours for festive. Trouser hem slant: Guardsman finish but this is a very minor detail.

President Reagan. - I removed the comment that President Regan wore morning dress to his first inauguration. He actually wore a stroller which can be verified in photographs.

Women's morning wear?[edit]

Why does this not mention women's versions at all? It should have at least more than one sentence on the topic??? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Persept (talkcontribs) 01:34, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
