Merge proposal[edit]

This article offers nothing not already covered in the article, Morinda citrifolia. Suggest redirect. --Zefr (talk) 20:09, 16 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It doesn't look that way to me. For example, it has a nice little overview of the species within this genus. Maybe the one sentence pertaining specifically to Morinda citrifolia could be considered redundant, but if anything, I think this article could be expanded to include more information such as variations between species, etc. Deli nk (talk) 20:40, 16 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Deli nk: Thanks for your comment. I misspoke by not suggesting a merge proposal which is intended to incorporate co-existing topics of Morinda citrifolia and Morinda per WP:MERGEREASON. Most (all?) of the species mentioned are stub articles. I would be willing to work on this with your overview, if you and others indicate it may be useful. I'll wait a few days to see the input, but will consider placing the Morinda page into a merge evaluation here. Thanks. --Zefr (talk) 22:48, 16 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, a merge makes more sense to me than just a redirect. I think a merge would be fine, and I wouldn't object to it, but I suspect that it would have to be reversed at some point, though, when more content about the genus is added. From what I've seen among articles about plants, there are few examples where genus/species topics are combined. But I can't think of one offhand that isn't the special case of a monotypic genus. Overall, I think two separate articles would allow for a more natural growth of the topics. Deli nk (talk) 11:50, 17 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
