Article titles[edit]

The correct titles for these two Moor Park articles are Moor Park, Hertfordshire and Moor Park, Surrey. --Wetman (talk) 08:41, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"...its crinoline staircase dating from circa 1770" is a bit pop, since crinolines were an invention of the 1850s and a fashion through the 1860s. The swept bannister supports being referred to are not a practical feature but a stylistic one, which was not new in the 1770s.--Wetman (talk) 13:30, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Moor Park Nature Reserve[edit]

Just followed the link in this section, trying to find out further information, but the SWT website indicates it is no longer there.

Is the site still managed by Surrey Wildlife Trust.

Have marked it as a dead link (apologies for drive-by edit).

Moor Park and Ivy Cottage are two very distinct places[edit]

The page opens with the statement: "Moor Park and Ivy Cottage, Farnham, Surrey, England are listed, conjoined homes in 60 acres (0.24 km2) of riverside grounds, in the former chapelry of Compton. [1][2]"
I contend that Ivy Cottage is incorrectly located by Historic England (reference 1 in quotation). I know the area very well and can confirm that Ivy Cottage is now actually unnamed and is 19 and 21 Moor Park Lane, about a kilometre away from the H.E. reference. I would submit it is actually at OS Grid Ref: SU 85332 47396
My photograph of the building is above. The description in H.E. reads "1099 MOOR PARK LANE Nos 1 and 2 (IVY Cottage) SU 84 NE 12/243 II Left hand part comprising No. 1. early C18 probably. 2 storeys. 2 windows. Tile gabled roof. Brick front, once painted. Stringcourse. 3-light leaded casements. Ground floor windows with shutters. Ledged door in frame; moulded course hood on cut brackets. Insurance company plaque. At left hand end, string course continues through leanto annexe with blank wall to road. At right hand end, another bay, later refronted, with gable over, comprises No 2. Projecting plinth of brick. Roughcast front. 3-light windows, lower ones with shutters. Ledged door with frame; flat hood on brackets over. In return wall, one external brick stack." I trust you can confirm the building I state as Ivy Cottage is the same as the one in the H.E. description, even down to the Insurance company plaque.
Beyond a doubt, Ivy Cottage is not part of Moor Park and should be removed from the opening line: the buildings are not conjoined and reference [1] should be deleted.

I agree. It seems that the Historic England listing for Ivy Cottage gives the location incorrectly. I also know the area well, and concur that Ivy Cottage is not part of Moor Park. BabelStone (talk) 13:13, 20 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
