Montara Creek is a wildlife Habitat and Movement Corridor. Montara Creek provides suitable wildlife migration habitat for amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals. It is adjacent to a former military site upon which MidPen Housing and San Mateo County have jointly proposed a 71 unit affordable housing project. The EIR has not been completed as of Dec. 2022, however previous plans called for the discharge of project Stormwater run-off into Montara Creek which runs directly into the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve, an ASBS.
Montara Creek is defined in the 2008 San Mateo County Watershed Assessment on pdf page 19 of the 111 page report. A link can be found on the MidCoast Community Council’s website beneath a tab titled watershed drainage groundwater.
