Triple Alliance & Itzcóatl[edit]

The Triple Alliance was made by Itzcóatl; in fact, Itzcóatl is listed in some Mexican history books as the Aztecs' first independent ruler. (Unsigned comment by 201.135.231.242 on 2 April 2006 UTC)

I fixed the error. Madman 05:03, 9 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Codex Mendoza ref[edit]

After reverting an anon's incorrect changing of tribute figures given in the Codex Mendoza, I'm wondering now at the direct relevance of that info to this particular article. I don't think that the tribute lists appearing in the 2nd part of that codex are referring to Moctezuma I's reign..? --cjllw ʘ TALK 02:07, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orthography[edit]

Is there a particular reason why we're using the orthography "Moctezuma" instead of "Motecuzoma"? The latter is generally more accepted. Snickeringshadow (talk) 17:39, 18 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Matthew Luevano Feedback[edit]

Add more on early life and background. I’m not sure if “Early life and background,” and “Early years of reign,” are distinct sections.

Try and explain what the Triple Alliance was in more detail.

Try and note his rise to power. What his lineage was or what the geopolitical landscape was prior to Moctezuma I rising to power? Did he have military training prior to his rise? How did he treat conquered people? What were the military strategies deployed? Isolate major battles and wars as individual sections and extrapolate them.

What was his impact on art/culture? Were there any significant art pieces or architectural fixtures which were developed at the time?

How were irrigation systems deployed in the future? What were other architectural, astrological, engineering achievements made by him? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Matthew Luevano (talkcontribs) 19:49, 23 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Peer Review by Kyle McCollin[edit]

Better explain the Aztec Triple Alliance, it is a little unclear. The section with the expeditions as a ruler has a lot of information that can get unclear, especially when talking about the tribute owed. The Early years of reign, and the Early life and background sections are good but would benefit from some more information added. Sources could be better throughout, especially if you cited more information throughout the article. The map at the end of the Expeditions as Ruler section is really helpful to understand the expansion of the Aztec empire under Moctezuma I. Overall the language of the piece could be more professional. Adding more about his significance as a ruler and the lasting impact he had on the Aztec Empire would also be good things to add. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Konesock (talkcontribs) 20:39, 23 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
