The article was removed due to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Miss Universe 2015 (2nd nomination). Do have any evidence that a new version will comply to the restrictions set out in this AfD? Like a solid date, a location and reliable independent sources? The Banner talk 15:35, 2 May 2015 (UTC)
But the host city is being negotiated by the Miss Universe Organization, the most secure thing is that this event will be held in Bogotá, Colombia. And the date is between November, 2015 or January 2016. Some other pages do not have a host city or a date that they should be strong or real, and they are not even eliminated (see Miss World 2015).

Banner, it's been confirmed by the Miss Universe Organization itself. [8] It's clearly time for an article. Perhaps there is an official date now, that other article (64th) is nearly an advertisement with no or hardly independent sources. The Banner talk 00:58, 29 October 2015 (UTC)
The Miss Universe website specified the name of competition was 2015 Miss Universe Pageant from this link. So, the 64th article should merge this article, and be named Miss Universe 2015. 114.109.12.82 (talk) 03:13, 29 October 2015 (UTC)

The lead paragraph

I have made a few changes to the lead paragraph, namely: to specify that the AXIS theater is at Planet Hollywood; to wikilink "beauty pageant"; and to identify Paulina Vega as "Miss Universe 2014". I have made these changes at least three times over the past week, most recently on October 29. The lead then looked like this:

Miss Universe 2015 will be the 64th Miss Universe beauty pageant. It will be held on December 20, 2015 at The AXIS theater at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.[1] Miss Universe 2014, Paulina Vega of Colombia, will crown her successor at the end of the event. This will be the first edition of the Miss Universe pageant under the new owners, WME/IMG, and will be the first aired by Fox.[2]

  1. ^ "Venue". Miss Universe website. Retrieved 30 October 2015.
  2. ^ "Donald Trump's former Miss Universe pageant finds a new home — Fox". The Washington Post. 28 October 2015. Retrieved 28 October 2015.

However, an IP (or rather different IPs each time) [9] keep reverting to an earlier version that does not contain those three changes.[10] The most recent such revert was on October 31. The lead now looks like this:

Miss Universe 2015 will be the 64th Miss Universe pageant. It will be held on 20 December 2015 at The AXIS, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.[1] Paulina Vega of Colombia will crown her successor at the end of the event. This will be the first edition of the Miss Universe pageant under the new owners, WME/IMG and will be the first aired by Fox.[2]

  1. ^ "Venue". Miss Universe website. Retrieved 30 October 2015.
  2. ^ "Donald Trump's former Miss Universe pageant finds a new home — Fox". The Washington Post. 28 October 2015. Retrieved 28 October 2015.

On this most recent occasion the IP also changed the date format from "December 20, 2015," which has been the date style for this article all along, to "20 December 2015". Per MOS:DATERET we are not supposed to edit war over date styles, but rather to stay with whatever style has already been established in the article.

I really don't know what to do about this. I think the version with the additional information is better - more informative and better reflective of what the sources say. But I don't want to keep edit warring about it. Most of the editing focus at this article has been on adding or vetting information about the participants, and that's appropriate, because that information keeps changing and edits are not always well sourced. It seems to me that the lead should be stable at an agreed-upon version. What do others think? --MelanieN (talk) 22:32, 1 November 2015 (UTC)

I see that a) someone restored Planet Hollywood, but removed AXIS theater; I think both should be there. And b) the article is now semi-protected. I am going to restore the AXIS and the other information to the lead., and hope it becomes stable at that version. --MelanieN (talk) 16:03, 2 November 2015 (UTC)

International broadcasters

To my annoyance the maintenance template about the fact that the section about broadcasting is again removed.

Main reason for my annoyance is that the info stated is unreliable and puffery. For instance, not one of the television broadcaster in the Netherlands will broadcast the pageant. To put an internet-broadcaster as a television-broadcaster is rather dubious. And to mention an satellite channel for every country where it can be received is plain puffery as it is an attempt to blow up the list.

To my opinion it is not necessary to add this long list. And when it is kept, it must have reliable, independent sources conform WP:RS. Not related sources as Missology, Pageantpolis or Anglopedia nor social media as Facebook. The Banner talk 11:50, 29 October 2015 (UTC)

Personally I think international broadcasters are relevant, as long as a reliable source can be obtained. For example, here's an Australian source for its local broadcaster [11] should anyone wish to re-add the list, in keeping with previous Miss Universe articles. -- Whats new?(talk) 02:23, 22 December 2015 (UTC)
Here is the most reliable source from OFFICIAL MISS UNIVERSE WEBSITE. Please somebody put international broadcasters section again, and fix wrong old information and then link this source as reference. [1] There are so many international viewers that cannot figure out which TV station televises the Miss Universe. Not all country televise Miss Universe on FOX channel. That's why international broadcasters section is important. And I strongly believe Wikipedia should be informative for Wikipedia users. Spatronic (talk) 16:05, 22 December 2015 (UTC)
Unfortunately, conform Wikipedia:Reliable Sources we need independent (not in any way related to the subject), reliable (no social media) prior published sources. I hope that it is clear that the "Official Miss Universe Website" is NOT an independent source. The Banner talk 16:18, 22 December 2015 (UTC)
So why other Miss Universe edition's broadcaster wasn't deleted? Double standard? And media often published wrong information but it is OFFICIAL INFORMATION FROM OFFICIAL MISS UNIVERSE WEBSITE. HELLO? How can this is not reliable source and possibly wrong information of published sources is reliable.Spatronic (talk) 04:18, 25 December 2015 (UTC)

Request

Please don't let anyone remove the "Controversy" content just above the "Results". That last paragraph is relevant with a proof. Lexarih (talk) 17:35, 26 December 2015 (UTC)

The present version is indeed okay. Nicely short and properly short. But there is no need to make a ,assive fuss of a plain mistake. By no means it is a controversy. The Banner talk 22:22, 26 December 2015 (UTC)

Judges section restored

I have restored the judges section content, with proper verification using reliable sources (diff). It was removed with a rationale of “unsourced fancruft / WP:OR / irrelevant sections” (diff), but the content is not “fancruft”, it's certainly not original research, as evidenced by the sources added, and the content is directly relevant, significant and of importance relative to the article's topic. Sources used in the restoration include those from Manila Bulletin, Sporting News, GMA News, Entertainment Tonight, Us Weekly, The Inquisitr, Latin Times and Las Vegas Sun. North America1000 13:30, 17 January 2016 (UTC)

It still is irrelevant and fancruft. The Banner talk 10:42, 3 February 2016 (UTC)
I have again restored the judges section (diff). It is verified by reliable sources. Wikipedia articles are based upon what reliable sources report and state, and this carries much more weight compared to subjective opinion about the content upon which its removal was based. North America1000 01:33, 11 February 2016 (UTC)
Sourced by dodgy sources and still of doubtable relevance. Not everything what is sourced is also relevant. The Banner talk 09:58, 28 February 2016 (UTC)

Why doesn't the article mention the mistake in announcing the winner?

It was reported in every news outlet and made it the most famous Miss Universe of all time... yet there's no mention here. 2.102.185.142 (talk) 16:03, 30 May 2017 (UTC)
