0 for 4 Curse

There is an orphan article 0 for 4 Curse which needs to be connected with another article and it relates to either the Vikings and/or the Bills. If someone knows how to work that into the curses section of this article. If not then perhaps someone should mark it for deletion. --Randolph 18:02, 30 Mar 2005 (UTC)

I've added it. Howabout1 Talk to me! July 5, 2005 21:14 (UTC)

Sex Scandal

Regarding my removal of the "Sex Scandal" chapter of the Minnesota Vikings page, I believe this type of journalism is best left out of NFL team pages. I believe it only encourages fans of rival NFL franchises to add more negative information about teams they don't like. If we want to add a chapter on player transgressions to every NFL team, I believe the Cowboys and Packers sites could use a few updates as well. How about the Mark Chmura hottob incident with teenage girls or Michael Irvin in a hotel room with cocaine and women? Anyway, I think you see my point.--User:Erdrick 23 October 2005

Sure. It's called "censorship". I take it you're on the team's payroll? Wahkeenah 23:35, 23 October 2005 (UTC)

No, I am just a fan. All of the information posted is true, but there are about a million other positive things that could have been added to the team page other than disparaging news. I don't see this type of information on other NFL team pages and I think it's in poor taste. --User:Erdrick 28 October 2005

Maybe if the other NFL teams get caught porking out-of-state hookers, this type of information will show up on other NFL team pages. Give the prurience factor some time to dissipate. It will go away eventually. When the next scandal comes along. Wahkeenah 04:51, 30 October 2005 (UTC)

Some teams' rosters in some sports have little flags next to the names to denote country of origin. In this case, maybe certain players should have a little picture of a Lake Minnetonka cruise boat next to them. Then, depending on how the wheels of jurisimprudence turn, some of them could then have a little picture of a jail cell door, which ironically looks a bit like a football gridiron. Wahkeenah 00:28, 20 December 2005 (UTC)

I believe the "prurience factor" has dissipated. This issue doesn't involve on-field activities and has it's own seperate Wikipedia article. It's appearance on the team page appears to go against common Wikipedia practice. The San Francisco Giants page doesn't mention the Barry Bonds scandal. The Liverpool FC page has one sentence on Heysel. The University of Colorado football page doesn't mention the school's sex scandal. In order to focus this article on it's Category, I plan to remove the section in a few weeks. If you'd like to discuss the issue, do so here. Johnn 7 13:36, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

I'm going to remove this section from the Minnesota Vikings page. The incident is well represented on Wikipedia in the article 2005 Minnesota Vikings boat cruise scandal. This will bring the article into current Wikipedia practice as mentioned above and the practice of the Wikipedia:WikiProject National Football League, specifically Wikipedia:WikiProject National Football League/Team pages format. Also, the section gave a strong 21st century POV to a history article. Johnn 7 12:01, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

AFL

I made the change to state the ownership was to have a team in the AFL as oppose to saying the Minnesota Vikings were to be a AFL team. It may be 6 to one and half dozen to the other, but the name "Vikings" was not chosen until Sept 1960 and was suggestion by the first gm of the team, who got his job on a recommondation by Pete Rozelle, the point being it not for certain that the team in the AFL would have been called the Vikings. New Helmet

I request an image of the new helmet to replace the image of last year's helmet.12.208.197.248 19:51, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

Done. Please refresh your browser. I noticed that it was really only a minor change as they added some lines to make the horn on the helmet slightly more defined. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 22:57, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

Notable Alumni

on the notable alumni part, some of them don't seem too notable. If you list every single player they've ever had the list kind of loses it purpose. Guys that only played a short time such as one or two years shouldn't be listed

If you're talking about me adding Karl Kassulke to the list, maybe it might be no one remembers him. He started for several years at strong safety, but was paralyzed in a motorcycle accident shortly before the 1973 season. He started in Super Bowl IV. WAVY 10 16:40, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

Article layout

I think we should get this Minnesota Vikings article to look more like the Chicago Bears article since that is a Wikipedia featured article. What do you all think? RyguyMN 00:51, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

Trivia

What doyou guys think about adding all the weird things that have happened to the Vikes over the years? I can think of at least 2 off the top of my head. Marshall running the wrong way for a fumble recovery, and Johnson throwing himself a touchdown pass. MrPenguin 2 17:08, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

We can include these, but they should be integrated within the article not listed as a seperate section. Wikipedia doesn't like having trivia sections. RyguyMN 04:08, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

New Stadium

There is no mention of the New Vikings Stadium in the article even though there is article. This should be integrated.--RockRNC 22:22, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Is there a new viking stadium in work? I know they have tried many times before, but failed to get it. Xbox999 (talk) 16:08, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:MinnesotaVikings 1000.png

Image:MinnesotaVikings 1000.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Uniform Color

There is no mention that I see of the fact that the Vikings uniform color, while remaining purple, was darkened significantly during the 1990s (much the same as happened with the green of the Philadelphia Eagles). Am I mistaken in this? Unschool (talk) 00:45, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

Vikings Cursed?

With the the Red Sox winning two world series the Minnesota Vikings have to have consideration for the "jinxed" or cursed sports franchise. I believe a recent book by Mad Dog of radio fame from New York City lists them high in his book, if anyone could follow up? It's worth a discussion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gatorman1997 (talkcontribs) 01:08, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

Franchise history-1960s

If the Vikings were considering Ara Parseghian to be its first head coach, it would've been within the timeframe between January, 1960 when Minnesota was granted the NFL expansion franchise and July, 1961 when the team opened its first training camp. Parseghian's first season at Notre Dame was in 1964, meaning he was still at Northwestern University when the Vikings came calling. The Ink Daddy! (talk) 06:56, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Brett Favre

Beyond the fact that all the current Brett Favre content is unsourced, I don't think it's really the time to include anything about Favre on this page yet, for the following reasons:

  1. Favre is retired;
  2. Favre can't throw due to an injury and subsequent surgery;
  3. Favre has not announced any intention to play for the Vikings; and
  4. the Vikings haven't announced any intention to sign him.

So I'm going to keep deleting that material, although it appears one IP user will probably be back daily with the latest in sports gossip. If anybody has thoughts on this, please chime in. — Bdb484 (talk) 20:25, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

The last I heard, the Vikings had given Favre until this past Friday to decide. That must be true, since I heard it on the Rome show. Friday came and went. Presumably, then, nothing was decided. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots 20:32, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
I've again removed the inclusion of rumors. Seriously, if a section heading includes the word "possibly", that's a pretty good indication that the content is not verified by a reliable source. If Favre joins the Vikings, then, and only then, should he be mentioned in the article. --ZimZalaBim talk 01:40, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
