Timeline[edit]

I am under the impression that Someplace Else occured after Metastasis. A statement from Someplace Else mentions a 'soldier who almost understood what was happening'. Is there any proof that would prove me wrong? How do we know that SE occured before Metastasis (as supported by this article's timeline)? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Preda (talkcontribs) 17:26, 20 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The messages in Metastasis are dated 2009 while the ones in Someplace Else are dated 2002. -64.119.142.118 (talk) 20:49, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Whut[edit]

I think that the second 2 paragraphs in the design section are cpied from an external source, Investigating that now. Tmorton166 12:16, 7 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As you so rightly said, it was I who wrote that section. This is the only way I can find to reply - I've never experimented with Wikipedia discussion pages before, so sorry if this is a wrong or stupid way of doing things. What source do you believe I have copied from? For my own clarification, so I can compare. I found certain details in a sourced article by Idle Thumbs but the second paragraph is mostly my own. The rest, while in some parts resembling or echoing some of the points made in that article, are entirely in my own words and include my own thoughts. If any of this breaches copywrite or other Wikipedia regulations, I will gladly revise them. It's never been my intention to pass these ideas off as my own or break any kinds of laws and appreciate the constructive criticism. Kastanok 22:16, 8 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies, what you wrote was very similar to one of my source articles http://www.planethalflife.com/features/motw/minerva.shtm however proper inspection shows that you have not copied word for word - it was simply the style that suggeszted so. --Tmorton166 15:42, 11 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Too oppinionated[edit]

Somebody needs to edit this page major. It's way too oppinionated.

The page SHOULD describe his maps as they are literally presented. At current, the author of this page is describing the maps from his own point of view, most prominent in the section headed "Design".

It's also written in a form that one would expect while talking to a friend face to face, not one that you'd expect in an encyclopedia.

Example: It is revealed that you are not the only person Minerva has manipulated. She compares you against at least one other such avatar - most likely a reference to Pericles but it is also possible it refers to the player character of Someplace Else[5]

I, personally, going by content standards I see plastered around wikipedia, would expect this to be presented more as the following: In game, it is revealed that you are not the only person Minerva has contracted. The player is compared against another character (insert example). This could possibly be a slight reference to the Greek General Pericles. It may also refer to the lead character in the Adam Foster mod, Someplace Else[5]

Dunno, just my oppinion D:

I agree it probably is a bit too gushing. If i find time tonight I will try and edit some of it to more formal language. the difficulty is alot of it is going to be opinions, I suppose it is all in the wording!! --Tmorton166 15:18, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Edited, whats everyones opinion on that? --Tmorton166 20:57, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'll add a "wikify" tag and maybe get back to this later when I have a bit more time to work on the article. I agree that it needs to be done; this reads like advertising. Ben Tibbetts 23:32, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Excuse me, not a "wikify" tag, "cleanup". Sorry... new at this. Ben Tibbetts 23:34, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sigh what the hell???[edit]

errr, so I managed to (in editsing the 1st sentence) lose most of the article. If anyone can RV it for me (I just cant RV it all for some reason) I would be obliged! -- Tmorton166 (Errant Emote)  talk 13:51, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I fixed it. Thunderbrand 16:43, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rewrite, don't delete[edit]

While I agree that this article is in some bad shape, I think the topic is now notable enough not to be deleted. I briefly heard about Minerva a few years ago, but installed and played it for this first time just now. It's been getting a lot of attention lately, mostly from the recent release and the halo effect from Half-Life 2: Episode Two. Remember that pretty much every successful mod out there started out as "somebody's home made game modification", and this one seems to be gaining traction. --Fo0bar 17:32, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

<cite> tags[edit]

What's the purpose of the <cite> tags in the article, other than forcing text that should be italicized to appear non-italicized? --DocumentN (talk) 17:12, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

All Caps Title?[edit]

Seriously? Why is the title in all caps? --Pyroguy (talk) 16:47, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

MINERVA is referred to in all caps in official sources. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.133.109.79 (talk) 23:17, 26 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Unless "MINERVA" is an initialism, using all caps violates WP's names. (Eg, While Limbo (video game) is sold as LIMBO, we use the lower case form as there's no abbreviations here. On the other hand, we do use GLaDOS as there is a abbreviation (genetic lifeform and disk operating system) that applies. See MOS:TM. I'm going to be switching this as the MOS is pretty clear on this. --MASEM (t) 18:36, 3 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
