United States Navy Deployment[edit]

Article currently states "The United States Navy recognizes those who complete deployments with a special decoration known as the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon." TO my recollection units and their members qualify for the ribbon if continuously away from their home-port for more than 90 days. For the US Navy in one definition a deployment is usually schedule to be near 6 monthly in length - in the opposite hemisphere - maybe Near Europe, or the Mediterranean, or Western Pacific, or Indian Ocean or Persian Gulf. usually schedule and intent. Around 2003 I think the US Navy conducted an experiment where the conducted a deployment longer that a year - the Whole crew was swapped out half way through. From what I heard - Some deployments end up longer for various reasons. Wfoj3 (talk) 18:13, 7 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
