Dead mall?

Believe me, I live in Cranston, Rhode Island and I've been there a million times. It's still open, 'cause I go there whenever I'm not busy. So this article is wrong because it's still open. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.97.55.248 (talk) 19:40, 30 June 2013 (UTC)

'Life of a retail landmark'

• 1963: Sears subsidiary buys 58-acre site for $295,000.00 .

(From historical information, prior to 1963, the land was owned by the Knight family who used the land for farming. To the south of the midland mall, the Community College of Rhode Island, Warwick, is named in tribute to the family)

• 1963-10-02: Midland Mall opens with sears and Shepard's as anchors.
• 1970: Warwick Mall opens just down Route 2.
• 1977-10-04: G. Fox opens in vacant Shepard's spot at Midland Mall.
• 1981-02-02: Midland Mall is sold to Met Life, one of a series of ownership changes.
• 1981-08-21: Renovated Sears opens.
• 1984-11-11: $4,000,000.00 in remodeling, with escalators and greenhouse-style food court, is unveiled; name changes to Rhode Island Mall.
• 1998-09-02: Registry of Motor Vehicles opens "Express" branch.
• 2002-01: Walmart opens
• 2002-10: Kohls opens
• 2003-12: Stop and Shop (Ahold) begins acquiring leases of mall's interior.

Conflicting info re: close date.

There is conflicting info about the date the mall closed. The article says April 30, 2011, but this isn't adequately supported. This source says that close date was expected to be May 22, 2011. This source also says May 22. This source only says April 2011. Anyone got anything better? Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:11, 29 April 2015 (UTC)

@Cyphoidbomb: Looks like the sources specifying May were published before the actual closure. Those which were published later seem to all say April (that I've seen). Providence Journal is about as good of a source we're probably going to get on it, so I included one from 2014. — Rhododendrites ^talk \\ 13:45, 30 April 2015 (UTC)
