If Michael Klein took the picture File:Michael Klein 2014.jpg then you cannot release it to Wikipedia. Only he can do so. Futhermore, you cannot release a picture to Wikipedia but retain all other rights to it. Commons licensing requires that the image be free content that anyone can use for any purpose. Thanks for your response. Michael Klein has no idea how to edit Wikipedia or upload files to Wikimedia. I released it on his behalf and at his request. If one cannot release a picture to Wikipedia yet retain all other rights to it, why is that an option in the file tag? Is it acceptable for upload to wikiMedia but not linkage wikiedia? You don't own the copyright, so you can't give us permission to use the photo. You can upload it if Michael Klein has given permission for anyone to use, copy, modify, and sell it. That does not appear to be the case. Michael Klein can probably contact Wikipedia and arrange to grant permission for the photo, but you can't. You attempted to license it as "The copyright holder of this file allows anyone to use it for any purpose, provided that the copyright holder is properly attributed. Redistribution, derivative work, commercial use, and all other use is permitted." That means as long as a user attributes the copyright holder he can do whatever he wants with the photo. He can modify it (must indicate that it has been modified), redistribute it, and sell it. That's not compatible with your addition, "The author released a photograph of himself to this Wiki editor; otherwise Michael Klein owns all the rights to the photograph." Ah, I see now. Klein did intend to release it publicly, he does not seem to care overmuch about his visual media, but that is a contradiction in attribution, you're right. Thanks for being observant. I'll have him put his thoughts on this page and re-upload the image to wikimedia, though I am unsure if he will want to bother with the process of creating an account.
