Vandalism update[edit]

Due to repeated vandalism, this page is being deleted by its creator until such a time as the vandal loses interest. Thanks!!—Preceding unsigned comment added by Historymike (talkcontribs)

Blanking pages IS REAL vandalism and not the bad faith edits I am being accused of. Anyways...--Tom 21:09, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, Tom, that is not the case. From Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion:

If the author blanks the page, this can be taken as a deletion request. Not vandalism, as you accused me of doing to a page I authored. Thanks! Historymike 01:46, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

(inserted into thread)The section goes on to say Note: Please check the page history to make sure there is only a single author.. You were NOT the only author so it WAS vandalism. Anyways, I would chalk that mistake up to being new, no big deal. Also as far as going to mediation as per below, that might be considered WP:POINT but whatever...--Tom 13:12, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dispute referred to Mediation; please direct further comments to Wikipedia administrators. Thank you.Historymike 23:44, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Notability?[edit]

Why is this page allowed? I thought stuffing one's own shirt -- self promotion -- was against Wiki principles. 69.116.60.184 (talk) 23:45, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What a self-indulgent douche - who makes their own Wikipedia bio? There is no question of notability here because there is no notability. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.249.182.3 (talk) 19:04, August 24, 2007 (UTC)

This is a joke - Michael Brooks or a friend probably put up this bio. No offense, but he isn't noteworthy at all.

Just asking....--Tom 19:37, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks...--Tom 20:22, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Also, should this get WP:AFD per the above? The article was created by its own entry.--Tom 20:24, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I would like so see some sources backing up the notability claims before offering judgment. If they are not forthcoming, i say give the article its day in court. Rockpocket 00:55, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Coninued problems with vandalism from Tom on the citation. As soon as I put it up, he deletes it. I do not wish to get into a silly game here with this person, but he has article creations of his own with citation and vanity problems that he should be focused on.Historymike 19:41, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Placed this on speedy delete - I do not wish to continue to have this pointless argument with user Tom 72.240.144.166 01:42, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Editing own bio[edit]

Hi Mike, per my message at your talk page, editing your own bio is a Wiki no-no. If something is SERIOUSLY wrong with your bio, delete the material and move it to the talk page. Also, blogs are not the best reference and should be avoided as such in this project. Thanks! --Tom 14:11, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Um, Tom? I HAVE to keep editing my own bio, because you keep deleting the citations. Quit vandalizing this site, sir.Historymike 19:38, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Michael, blogs are not considered reliable sources and should be avoided, see WP:RS. Also, some people, I am not one them, consider it a personal attack, WP:NPA when being accused of vandalizing, WP:VAND when they are trying to edit in good faith, WP:AGF. Anyways....--Tom 19:44, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Deleted the article due to repeated vandalism from user Tom. I have better things to do than fix the reckless deletions of this user. Hope you have a good day, happiness in life, and all that,Tom. Historymike 20:02, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Come back soon :) JUST KIDDING...and this guy calls himself a National journalist?? PLEASE! maybe not kidding :P that time... --Tom 21:11, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Gee, Tom - aren't you the one who rails about civility? Historymike 22:36, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Gentlemen, please. Lets keep this disagreement from getting personal.
Tom, it would appear at the root of this, you have a problem with the notability of this article. If so, i suggest you go ahead and list it on WP:AfD and let the community decide.
Mike, once the article was created (even though it was a bad idea for you to do so per WP:VANITY) it should stay until the community decides otherwise. The dispute over content is not vandalism, and thus you should be very careful in using that term. I appreciate i may be partly responsible for this disagreement as requested sources for some of the claims. For what its worth, I concur that a blog does not qualify as a reliable source for anything other than itself, but lets just AFD the article and this dispute can be taken out of both your hands an into those of the community. Rockpocket 00:02, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Rockp, thanks for the voice of reason, anyways I am going to step back from this. Also I am NOT going to AFD this article for notability seeing all the back and forth Michael and I have had. I just posted a final parting volly to Michael since he questioned my "affiliation" to the Exum Guides which I created. He has accused me of being rude, vandalizing and agenda driven...whatever...as I mentioned in my reply, I am a real spec of sand, a nobody in this Project so we will just move ahead. Again, I hope Michael can learn WIKI ways and help contribute. Cheers and thanks Rockpock....--Tom 00:18, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
This has been referred to Mediation. My complaints about user Tom are not about this article, but many others in which his zeal to delte/revert my edits has wiped out other people's work. I appreciate the feedback and acknowledge my mistakes in editing this bio, but user Tom continues to harass me and make careless deletions with regard for neither other people's work or adding an appropriate substitution for links.

BTW - I am posting this on WP:AfD myself, because there is just no point in dealing with user Tom on this or any other articles. I would rather not have the headaches, and just be the bigger party and let this user have his way.

Ok, i've completed the AfD process for you, Mike - it stalled halfway. Perhaps it would be better of you stayed out of each others way for a while. Anyway Good luck to you both and happy editing. Rockpocket 02:05, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
