Standardisation[edit]

If you're going to argue that this article needs to be consistent with other, similar articles, then perhaps you should look beyond the immediate predecessors of this article. The W05, W06, W07 and W08 articles might use one format, but other cars from other constructors use a different format, and since they form the overwhelming majority of articles, this article should be brought in line with those articles.

Furthermore, "Eight Forward Gears + One Reverse" is not an appropriate way of expressing it. Firstly, neither "eight forward gears" nor "one reverse" are proper nouns, and so there is no need to capitalise them. Secondly, the use of the icon "+" is not appropriate because it is not a word and is disruptive for the reader. Prisonermonkeys (talk) 02:58, 18 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The format of using "Eight Forward Gears + One Reverse" is normal. By looking into article like road cars (Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG or Toyota Wish), the article also states that 7-speed or 4-speed, so there is no discrepancy. But to improve and better understanding for readers, it can actually use this format: "Semi-automatic sequential gearbox with 8 forward gears and 1 reverse" Limjiahao98 (talk) 10:05, 18 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
For consistency, currently is quite okay for this article, quite similar to other article like Red Bull RB6 or McLaren MP4-30, which is not related to any Mercedes F1 article. Limjiahao98 (talk) 10:15, 18 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
