Dummar's purported meeting with Hughes[edit]

I'm thinking of slightly re-wording the paragraph:

  • Original:

While working as a Willard, Utah service station owner, Dummar claimed to have discovered a disheveled and lost man lying on the side of a stretch of U.S. Highway 95 about 150 miles (240 kilometres) north of Las Vegas, Nevada, near Lida Junction. Hughes asked Dummar to take him to the Sands Hotel in Las Vegas. Dummar claimed that only in the final minutes of their encounter did Hughes reveal his identity.

  • Re-worded:

While working as a Willard, Utah service station owner, Dummar claimed to have discovered a disheveled and lost man lying on the side of a stretch of U.S. Highway 95 about 150 miles (240 kilometres) north of Las Vegas, Nevada, near Lida Junction. Dummar was asked to take the man to the Sands Hotel in Las Vegas. Dummar claimed that only in the final minutes of the encounter did the man reveal his identity as Hughes.

Does anyone think this presents any problems (POV, essay-like, etc)? – AJLtalk 07:32, 30 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

LDS Church?[edit]

How did the LDS Church get tangled up in all this? Was Dummar LDS? Seems like a reasonable guess, just based on the fact that he's from Utah. Hard to see why else the church would be listed in the fake will. --BDD (talk) 16:23, 7 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hypothetically, if Dummar were making a fake, it would be smart of him to include as a beneficiary somebody with the lawyers to fight for that will. The LDS Church has a lot of money to fight in court to validate that will, if they had believed it (I gather that they didn't pursue it once the court determined it was a fraud). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.123.120.221 (talk) 19:50, 26 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Author needs to correct/verify the listing of Bonnie Dummar as Melvin's "aunt", when even the latest reference articles identify her as Melvin's wife. 76.187.233.192 12:26, 20 August 2007 (UTC)Dennis Courtney[reply]
