Untitled[edit]

This band is not Christian-based. Underoath WAS, but this band and it's album are a conceptual telling of Ma Barker and the Barker-Karpis gang.

I wouldn't exactly call'em "heavy metal". They're more like southern hardcore. Bandgeek100 00:01, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

The band's name and certain songs are about that story, but, far and large, a lot of thier lyrical subjects are Christian. "If the blinders were just gone would you then feel Jesus.", etc. Also, Dallas typically ends the live shows with something along the lines of they don't mean to judge anyone and aren't pushing anything down anyones throats, and then they will talk of their beliefs for a second, even if it's just a simple "Christ loves you". Fair use rationale for Image:Artist-152635-1352659.gif[edit]

Image:Artist-152635-1352659.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 22:51, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Christian?[edit]

I know Taylor is from Underoath, etc. etc., but I've never heard a definitive conclusion that this band is a Christian one. Can we reference this claim?JeffreyGomez 09:31, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Citations?[edit]

Sigh....more of them please! Particularly on the Guitar Hero III reference. --Wick3dd 21:11, 3 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Genre[edit]

I haven't listend to their first album, but I have the second one, and the lyrics have a death metal feel. In fact, they're pretty much all about the death of Ma Barker and her sons. Christianrocker —Preceding comment was added at 18:47, 3 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sigh. Singing about death does not constitute death metal. --Wick3dd 21:11, 3 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think this should be hardcore, this sounds very much like a cross of Southern Rock and Metalcore. Definitely not death metal. It's not even close to death metal. 79.66.82.204 (talk)

I belive they have a sound with southern rock and metalcore in it.That would make it Southern metal —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.119.73.170 (talk) 19:59, 27 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Maylene is not death metal at all... you say that they have a death metal feel mainly because the metalcore sound was highly influenced by death metal. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tanner9461 (talkcontribs) 22:28, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Death metal? are you serious? Pathetic. Southern Metal with a hint of Metalcore... Metalcore should not be the significant genre this band is posted as though. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.49.180.170 (talk) 11:46, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Lineup[edit]

Is the current lineup listed on here accurate? Josh Cornutt is no longer listed as a member of the band on their Myspace nor is he in the new photography. -Polefar 18 April 2008

Unsourced stuff[edit]

I know that this can't be used without a source, and I can't source it because it comes from a conversation had with one of the band's guitarist, who happens to be a family friend.

The band is reportedly attempting to sign with Warner Bros. Records. Warner funded the promotional materials for III, and it's lead single Just a Shock.

Also, Dallas Taylor has not been with the band due to marital issues. He reportedly cheated on his wife while on tour and after his wife found out, she divorced him. He went back to alabama to try and work out his relationship with her, but she refused. Taylor then stated he wanted to take time off during this event, and called for the band to call off their current tour. The band refused, and recruted Schylar from He is Legend to fill in on vocals. Dallas was reportedly working day labor while in alabama, after the band went on tour without him.

There is also a belief that Dallas Taylor may be removed as lead vocalist in favor of Schylar. Working in favor of this rumor is a report that He is Legend is on indefinate hiatus, and that Schylar is set to take over vocal duties from Taylor. Reportedly, Warner Bros. like Schylar better than Taylor, as they feel that Schylar is more professional thatn Taylor, and would like Maylene to hire Schylar, which would go a long way in Maylene getting signed to Warner.

Again this isn't sourcable, but could be reality one day. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.76.70.230 (talk) 01:13, 23 January 2010 (UTC) Dale Earnhart Jr played sax, and juice harp for Maylene in 08 durng 6 shows —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.89.41.48 (talk) 06:14, 22 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Metalcore?[edit]

These guys aren't metalcore or 'southern hardcore.' They're a heavy metal band, through and through. No disputing that. There's no death metal influence or a stupid amount of breakdowns and double kick drumming. Not metalcore. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.178.137.63 (talk) 13:45, 19 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
