Criticism[edit]

This article could use a criticism section. Yes, I'm biased because I HATE (with a passion) this series, but then again, I think every article on wikipedia could use a criticism section. --The Euphemism of Life 01:02, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I can agree, has anyone found any criticism we can quote? ChyranandChloe (talk) 03:09, 2 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

@ChyranandChloe HOW THE HELL CAN YOU HATE THIS SERIES o.O — Preceding unsigned comment added by Floandthemash (talkcontribs) 19:22, 27 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I most certainly can, the official fan forum, that is linked to by the Maximum Ride home page, is full of criticisms you can quote. The place was mobilising for war after the announcement of 'Water Wings'. --TheMightyShoeHorn (talk) 08:33, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fan sites, whether or not they are official, are not reliable sources, and therefore cannot be used reliably as criticism in the article. ~ Bella Swan? 18:38, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gah, shame that. I suppose that also excludes their reviews. Fan reaction section?--TheMightyShoeHorn (talk) 09:41, 5 November 2008 (UTC) I hate this series as well, but do you suppose that a survey of 100 people or so would be considered a reliable source? --97.127.79.94 (talk) 19:47, 19 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Considering the fact that much of this fan criticism is the result of the social setup on the main fansite, I think it should be noted. As such, I've edited the section regarding the fansite to take note of this. If any of you feel that it's still too biased one way or the other (Moderators/Anti-fans) feel free to revise it. Still though, if you want to discuss fan criticism, you have to discuss the dynamics of the fan site. --Binoculars1911 (talk) 20:09, 13 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ari[edit]

When the flock is at disney world Ari writes Wolverine in the little boys book but in the 3rd book he doesnt know how to write his name. Why is this??

I was looking at the recent edits and noticed that there used to be a section about Ari. Why was it taken out? If it doesn't work, maybe we could have a section about Erasers in general. (BTW, I haven't yet finished the 2nd book so from the few new things in the article, I'm pretty excited!) --Blackjack48 00:09, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay whatever. I restored it myself. Blackjack48 14:30, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I Know This is Under "Ari" But I'm not really sure how to use Wikipedia so I am posting this here: Im sorry in advance! Thanks to whoever finished the "Dylan" character bio. Much appreciated — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.210.90.226 (talk) 16:14, 13 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup/expansion[edit]

This page could use cleanup and expansion; it drops a lot of spoilers from the second book, but very little useful information, particularly re: their personalities and looks. I'd do it myself, but I'm not very good at it. (Might try anyways, though.) CameoAppearance 06:27, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree (and so do some people on the Maximum Ride Message Board.) I may do some but I have been very busy lately but I will try to see if anyone from the message board could do it. Less Spoilers, More Description! --Blackjack48 16:15, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've cleaned up the text up to the section: "Iggy". This is interesting, by that, I mean it's hard. If you guys would give a peer review that would be nice. Additionally why do have a "Main characters" section describing Max though Total when we have an articled (linked right above the "Main characters" section) devoted to just that? I think it should be omitted. ChyranandChloe (talk) 03:46, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Comparisons and Contrasts to The Adult Series[edit]

If anyone here who's read MR and the LH/WtWB would be willing to do it, it might be nice to add comparison info to the bios comparing and contrasting Max I, Oz, and Icarus with Max II, Fang, and Iggy, for instance.

I would but I haven't read his earlier series. I'll try to find someone who would do a better job at it than I would. --Blackjack48 20:13, 10 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'd like to do Max and Oz, and maybe Ic.--

--Fantasylover12 20:57, 10 June 2006 (UTC)Fantasylover12 16:56, 10 June, 2006 (CT)[reply]

Yes, they're similar, but if the books are unrelated (as James Patterson himself has said), why are comparisons necessary? CameoAppearance 13:15, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I believe that the idea was born in LH&WtWB .. so even though JP has said the books are unrelated, they obviously must be. I also dont believe that there should be differentiation as in Adult series and Childrens, as I am 36 and have been addicted to the MR series - actually all of JP's books! --Enigma sa (talk) 11:24, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Max2[edit]

Okay, saw no reason not to include Max's copy, (since it was in a spoiler field and all) so if there are no objections, I added a short descrip. User:Agape

did max2 ever die???? or did she still live????

Well Max 2 joined Fang's gang and adopted the name Maya and got a pixie cut to make herself look different to Max. It is hinted that Fang brought her into his gang so that he could have a connection to Max (who he left after Total and Akila's wedding). Then in Nevermore, she is killed by Ari in combat, dies in Fangs arms and tells him she loves him, even though she knows he is still cought up over Max. So in short, yeah she is dead. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.104.87.106 (talk) 14:45, 16 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Merge[edit]

I think Itex should be merged into this article; otherwise, it'll just end up nominated for deletion because of non-notability outside of the Maximum Ride fandom. CameoAppearance 04:16, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I second that. It's not enough of an article to stand on its own. Maybe we can just copy the paragraph into a heading here? User:Agape
I agree also. I think we have a consensus. Will someone change it? I also made one for The Institute below.
Alright, it's merged. Itex is now a redirect. CameoAppearance 09:57, 18 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Maya (Max2) lives and has feelings for Fang and is in his new flock in Angel, she proves herself different than Max and Fang appricates her. She makes Max jelous. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tabs24x7official (talkcontribs) 00:44, 1 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Merge "The Institute"[edit]

I think we should merge the section in The Institute for Maximum Ride into Maximum Ride's article.

The Institute is a branch of Itex, right? – TechnoCat (talk) 01:06, 28 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The Angel Experiment[edit]

There's another article on Maximum Ride: Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment in case you haven't noticed and it should probably be merged. There's a lot of good information there but I think it should all be on one page. --Blackjack48 01:20, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree; the two should be merged, and the content of the Angel Experiment article should be put in a Plot Synopsis section in this article. CameoAppearance 07:26, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Agree. The Angel Experiment is a part of the Maximum Ride series, and therefore should be a part if this article.--Dani 20:28, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, I'll toss in too. Agree. User:Agape
Okay, is anyone up for changing it? (I don't possess that talent) --Blackjack48 22:53, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Comment I've just come across this now and have to say that individual books can have separate articles from their series. Both articles seem to seem quite lengthy, so I see no obvious need for the two to be merged. I do think that the Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment article does need organising though. A couple of internal links to this article wouldn't hurt. I'd do it myself, but I haven't yet read the book and don't want to risk spoilers. movie[edit]

Can anyone tell me when the movie will be released? Rumors are 2007 but then again they're rumors...

sometime in april

Jeb[edit]

In the article, it said that Jeb and other scientists turned Ari(his son) into an Eraser. Didn't he leave Ari with the scientists when he left with the Flock? And it was the scientists who turned him into an Eraser, being curious about what it would be like if he was to be injected with the wolf DNA after birth. It's still Jeb's fault for leaving his seven-year-old boy with mad scientists, though. --Dani 20:30, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Split[edit]

I advocate a split of the Angel Experiment and School's Out sections. They are separate books and should be treated that way.--206.27.244.160 21:11, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. The article is waaay too long. Are there any volunteers for doing this? Geoffron 15:17, 10 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, since none disagree, and none seem to be doing it, I'll split the articles. --Geoffron 13:19, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I created the pages Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment, Maximum Ride: School's Out Forever, and Characters in Maximum Ride. Some information, like soundtracks, need to be moved to another page, but this article is nearly ready to be turned into a disambiguation page. I want to make sure nobody has any objections. --Geoffron 15:05, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Book three[edit]

Well i just made an acc on the mr stuff so i hi everyone and I GOT INFO ON BOOK THREE WOOOOOT!

  • SPOILERS!!!!!*

One: Jeb is the voice! (i thought that was really cool)

Two: Jeb (of course) is Ari and Max's dad their mom? Miss marteniz!

Three: The flock gets captured and ari helps them escape. Max takes ari with them. This makes Fang mad and he (along with Iggy and Gazzy) split with the flock. So flock splits up and i dont know anything else other than those.--Iggy42 18:44, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Maxridebook.jpg[edit]

Image:Maxridebook.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Special Abilities[edit]

Should we include a section featuring the flock's special abilities? And if so, should Ari be included due to the fact that he has a voice, like Max? Mr. chicken III (talk) 21:57, 14 January 2008 (UTC) That should be in a whole new ariticle if anyone is willing to do that and look up all of that information.--Prettywhitekitty (talk) 14:23, 28 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why should that be a whole new article? It wouldn't make sense to me. I think it could go on the character pages or on this page. In response to the last part, I can get to the information pretty easily. Mr. chicken III (talk) 00:58, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Adding the fourth book's summery[edit]

I believe that we need to add the fourth book's plot summery. However, the only one we have is the one from the publisher, but we can use that one until some one here has finished reading the book and can provide another summer. The edit I have made, transfered the plot summery from: Maximum_Ride:_The_Final_Warning. ChyranandChloe (talk) 02:21, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Improving[edit]

This article honestly needs some major work. So much stuff is unnecessary and redundant. For one, we list the book titles at the beginning of the article, so why do we have to devote a section summarizing them later? Isn't that what the books' articles are for? And why are we giving descriptions of the flock and supporting characters when we've got a whole character list to do that for us? Honestly. All that stuff has to be taken down. And there isn't a "series critical review" type of thing in this article. Nothing that indicates why this is notable. I think we ought to take out all the stuff we don't need and insert the review section. Please give me your feedback on this. Thank you, Swiftink (talk) 22:27, 23 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Assessment[edit]

Hi, this is Strdst grl responding to a request for assessment made at Wikipedia:WikiProject Children's literature/Assessment. For the moment, I have downgraded the class of this article to Start class, but I have lots of suggestions for how you can bring this article back up to C class again:

  • There are some fairly serious spelling and grammar problems, especially in the Characters and Books sections. In places, there are some blatant WP:COPYVIO sections quoted straight off the blurb and in others in the text makes no sense to someone who doesn't know the books back to front. These need to be fixed fairly quickly.
  • While the books themselves are covered in great detail, more could be added about the Critical Reception of the books. This would probably require a new section. You could also create a section on recurring themes within the book, but you might need to check WP:OR first and find some citations to include.
  • The Soundtrack section has no relevance to the rest of the article and I do not understand why it is being included. Please either write an explanation or delete the section.
  • The Characters section is way too long, it should probably be cut down to just a few sentences about each character.
  • The Website and community section does not make much sense to me, possibly because I have never been to the website in question. Please make it more accessible.
  • References should be included in the Characters and Books sections, even if they are just notes linking specific facts to particular pages in the book.
  • Each book is summarised about 3 times - once in the lead paragraph, once at the start of the characters section and once in its own section. Please keep the book-by-book summaries to one section, and give more general series summaries in others.
  • There are quite a few uncited comments which I have tagged. These need citations added to be verifiable.

Adressing these points should bring the article up to around B class. I will try and come back and help with some of these points when I have time, but I will need some help from people who know more about the non-book elements of the series. strdst_grl (call me Stardust) 14:07, 18 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In book 6...Fang leaves the flock which "broke my heart and I could not stop thinking about it for days"? If you want to do that to a MR page, go to the Maximum Ride website and vandalize the forums like every other FANGirl. Or something.

Reception[edit]

On October first of this year the reception part of this article was almost completely deleted. I do not know if this was done for a particular reason, but it seems to be vandalism to me. I propose that the old section as of September 30 be readded to the page and that the reception section also be edited to include the reception for the last few books, as the last book mentioned in the old section was book 4. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Elvaril (talkcontribs) 07:57, 28 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed. —tktktk 18:11, 28 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The reception section should be expanded to include the reception for the more recent books or should be downgraded to just state the reception of the series as a whole and the reception of the individual books be moved to their respective pages. Just stating the reception for the first two books does not inform on the series as a whole. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.158.147.79 (talk) 01:59, 17 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Characters Section Link to List[edit]

I would propose deleting this character list or merging it with the list that already exists here. Or maybe even replace the contents of the list article with the contents of the character section of this Maximum Ride page. It seems like it is common practice to link to the list of characters at the beginning of the plot summary and then just leave off the repeated list, as is done on this featured article. And then, what we could do is delete the character list from every separate page for the Max. Ride books (like Fang) and just leave the link to the list of characters page. Any objections? If not, I'm going to be bold and have a student of mine work on this. Roseclearfield (talk) 11:28, 8 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No objections here. We're probably better off doing that anyway, since all these lists tend to be a magnet for fans to add in whatever trivial details they think are important. —tktktk 06:37, 9 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism.[edit]

Can we PLEASE put a lock on this page? The vandalism is seriously starting to get irritating. This is Wikipedia, a source of nonbiased information on almost anything. Audiobooks?[edit]

line 50[edit]

Can anyone check out line 50, additions made today?!Super48paul (talk) 19:51, 7 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Should "When the Wind Blows" be mentioned in this article somewhere, given that it is much the same story and the original inspiration for this series?

Originally I was confused and thought this was the series that inspired Dark Angel, the TV series, which is why I didn't understand how it came out after that show was over. But now I see that When the Wind Blows is the actual inspiration, but googling brought me here. A reference to the original book would have eliminated a lot of confusion, and I've seen online that I'm not the only one.

Crack addicts[edit]

Right now, the plot says that a key character's mother was a crack addict. Is this right? If not, please fix it. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 23:07, 28 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
