Why are the Bible quotes in pseudo-verse layout? DJ Clayworth 22:31, 17 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Mainly for aesthetic reasons. It looks good, and makes explicitly clear that the text of the verse is not part of the encyclopedia article. These articles also contain frequent quotes from scholars, and having a somewhat different formatting for the verses from the standard one for long quotes is also useful. There is also an alternate method, used at Matthew 2:16 and some other verses, of placing the text in a table. - SimonP 23:11, 17 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
