Maroon Slaves?[edit]

What does that term "Maroon slaves" actually mean, as it so happens one of my great great grandfathers, William Anderson, was from Maroon Town, but I don't see any evidence from old genealogical records to indicate he was enslaved. By their very definition, a Maroon supposedly was someone who was free from slavery and were members of free communities in the Jamaican interior with a greater level of autonomy from Colonial Jamaica under British rule, so what's this nonsense about Maroon slaves? @Paranoimia90: The article mentions "Maroon Slaves" in the 1730s and 1790s, which is surely bfore your great great grandfather's time. -- Themightyquill (talk) 19:30, 13 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have added a bit more detail that should help explain the Maroon history of Maroon Town.Mikesiva (talk) 13:52, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
