Nintendo subsection[edit]

The Nintendo subsection isn't focusing on Lindblom's time at Nintendo. It's focusing only on his experience with EarthBound (and a passing mention of Wario's Woods). Did Lindblom have any other projects? I feel that it should most of it should be omitted and summarized, with a link pointing to EarthBound#North American release. --ThomasO1989 (talk) 13:42, 7 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

In fact, 99% of the article, not just this section, is focusing either on his work on EarthBound, his thoughts on EarthBound, or other people's thoughts on Lindblom's work on EarthBound. I'm beginning to question whether or not this article is actually about Lindblom. --ThomasO1989 (talk) 13:53, 7 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It does focus on his time at Nintendo and is written using the RS available about it. Would you prefer EarthBound and After EarthBound? The game is his foremost work, as he says, so it makes sense to structure his article around it when that's what the RS cover. I can add more on his other credits, but he's primarily known for EB. If the argument is that Lindblom is not notable, that's a separate discussion but I'd be willing to entertain it czar  15:10, 7 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
These would be the sources to add, but I'll wait to put in the work until the notability discussion is over czar  15:36, 7 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

GA review (see here for what the criteria are, and here for what they are not)

I'll give this a shot. The article, among others related to EarthBound, is being discussed at WT:VG#New EarthBound articles regarding its notability and coverage. Seeing as how this just slips by WP:CREATIVE's standards (namely the third bullet), it should be fine. I applaud you for squeezing as much as you could from five sources.

  1. It is reasonably well written.
a (prose, no copyvios, spelling and grammar): b (MoS for lead, layout, word choice, fiction, and lists):
  2. It is factually accurate and verifiable.
a (reference section): b (citations to reliable sources): c (OR):
  3. It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects): b (focused):
  4. It follows the neutral point of view policy.
    Fair representation without bias:
  5. It is stable.
    No edit wars, etc.:
  6. It is illustrated by images and other media, where possible and appropriate.
a (images are tagged and non-free content have fair use rationales): b (appropriate use with suitable captions):
  7. Overall:
    Pass/Fail:

I made these edits to the article. Very well written and surprisingly broad. Some points:

  • One user expressed that the sections "Nintendo" and "After Nintendo" only focus on his work on EarthBound, and you proposed to rename them to "EarthBound" and "After EarthBound". I'd support that change.
  • Is there anything else that could be added to the infobox? Carried Away Games' Facebook page indicates their location at Kirkland, Washington; Partly Cloudy Games is headquartered in Kirkland as well. This Wired article states that he lives in Kirkland.
  • Could this image possibly be used for the Nintendo section? I think it would nicely illustrate his place of occupation and decorate the article a little.

Assuming the discussion at WT:VG is settled and the article is kept, I'll pass. 23W 22:28, 7 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Thanks for the review and good suggestions czar  04:58, 8 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome. Hope this gets to stay, or at the very least merged and redirected, since it could blossom if the subject appears in a secondary source again (I still think it stands pretty well currently). Passing. 23W 05:21, 8 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
