Image replacement[edit]

File:Marcia Mary Anne Arbuthnot (née Lisle).jpg which was here is a hand-coloured version of the engraving now in the article. It has a fair use rationale: while who knows when the colouring was done, we are better off without it and the fair use. Charles Matthews (talk) 06:13, 26 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Family background[edit]

It seems clear that William Clapcott Lisle was the son of Warren Lisle MP and his second wife Ruth Clapcott. The family was from Upwey, Dorset, and Warren, who did law enforcement against smugglers,[1], also owned a ship Cholmondely Cruiser.[2] Which suggests an connection with Cholmondeley family, before Hester (Esther) married William.

It also appears that William died in 1790, so that Hester was a widow when she became a lady in waiting to Princess Caroline. Charles Matthews (talk) 09:17, 27 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
