Introduction[edit]

According to the definition in Wiktionary [[1]], manumit is a verb derived from the Latin manumittere, from pre-Classical Latin manu emittere, literally ‘send out from one’s hand’. It's single definition in English is "To release from slavery, to free." The present translation: "'manumit' in Latin means freedom from slavery" seems to indicate pretty clearly and erroneously that manumit is a noun. Actually, all I'm really suggesting is revising the word "freedom" to "free." Dick Kimball (talk) 20:55, 31 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
