External links[edit]

I have removed the external links section [1] [2] because Wikipedia's external links guidelines restrict external links to ones which provide further encyclopedic information about the subject. In particular links to commercial services are to be avoided (see links to be avoided #14). Our policies also state that Wikipedia is not a directory and that is usually regarded as meaning that listings pointing to examples of services that are primarily about providing contact to those providers (e.g. addresses, URL's, or telephone numbers) are inappropriate. However my edits have been reverted without comment. [3] [4] I left a message at the adding editor's talk page the second time to ensure he saw the reasoning but he did not respond before reverting again so I'm posting here too.

I'm not too sure about the understandmexico.com link that I left in either. If editors have an opinion on keeping either the company or understandmexico.com links please add to the discussion. -- SiobhanHansa 19:51, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think the consulting outfit is okay, but I might link to this page instead. It's (IMO) slightly more informative. WhatamIdoing (talk) 20:25, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
External links have to be directly about the subject of the article, so removing the external links to companies that happen to manufacture stuff in Mexico is appropriate. Links appropriate for this artcile would be trade associations or newspaper articles. 2005 (talk) 00:10, 12 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
