TOC[edit]

The TOC is just too long. Most of this can be addressed by reducing the character names from headings and use a "; <character name> : <character description>" format. Additional paragraphs can be preceded by ":". You can use the {{nihongo}} template in <character name> and it actually looks pretty good. For example:

Chihiro Kawai (河合 ちひろ, Kawai Chihiro)
Chihiro Kawai is Sasami's and Tenchi's mother and the owner of the CD Vision music store. She was once a successful pop singer, and she is a huge fan of karaoke, much to Sasami's annoyance, that she had no choice but to sing with her. Her biggest hit song was Losing the Fight of Love (Your Hiroshi in the dubbed version), which is featured as the ending theme for the second episode of Pretty Sammy OVA.
Her addiction to karaoke is ceaseless, and she even goes as far as raid the cash register in order to buy a new karaoke machine. When Pixy Misa causes the software to malfunction, she goes into extreme withdrawals. Kiyone and Mihoshi are left dealing with her while Tenchi and Sasami go to Akihabara to look for software, a search that is complicated by Biff Standard's takeover.
She appears again as one of the members of the Team Sexy Mrs. in Magical Project S, but she has no relationship with Sasami or Tenchi.

  • Sure I will help you at least --Adv193

Ack, it's gotten too long. I assume Adv193 is going to fix the TOC problem, but should cut back on some material here? Or have a separate page for characters? I've created format for monsters on my user page, but I'm holding off on that with seeing the warning of the size problem. EmperorBrandon 22:58, 25 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm of the view that articles should be fairly self contained. While details can be split off into subpages in order to keep the article brief, some information should remain on the main article to give the reader the basic information without having to read—or be prompted to read—the subpages. --TheFarix (Talk) 00:15, 26 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. Your advice has been very helpful in formatting the character descriptions, and I will remember to keep it in mind if I ever do any more character descriptions. I think they look pretty decent as they are now and the TOC is a manageable size. I'm not going to add anymore except for discriptions on the minor characters that are still blank (and keep as brief as I can). I'm not even going to think about adding the monster information in (whatever form it may be) until I do descriptions for them. I've been guilty of creating blank skeletons a lot this week.... Adv193, do you want to update the Universe, in Tokyo, and GXP character lists accordingly? If not, I will still be glad to do it.
Adv193 suggested one possible suggestion to house extra information is a separate template for Pretty Sammy. I've got one on my user page that I put some basic character into (for all the major players in the Pretty Sammy universe), but given that I'm not good at it, I'm not sure exactly how to integrate it with the Tenchi Muyo information (maybe include Tenchi characters on the template and have it anchored to the Pretty Sammy portion of the individual pages_ as Adv193 suggested. I don't plan on doing anything extensive with it right now, as I at least want to see if the template creator agrees to it and whether there is any consensus on the Tenchi Muyo! talk page. Things such as minor characters and "monsters-of-the-week" are good candidates for subpages. They don't actually add much to the main article—in my opinion, they clutter the article—but it is still information that some readers could find interesting. --TheFarix (Talk) 03:15, 26 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Red links for voice actors[edit]

I'm assuming this is OK since it is done quite frequently on anime series pages I've visited, but wanted to make sure what thoughts are on the subject. I had red links reversed on one of the articles I contributed to. I think they're pretty useful for seeing all the entries that link up to a particular actor (and determine the need for an article) Sometimes I've done a moderate approach and only did red links for VA's I knew might have enough information for an article. EmperorBrandon 01:12, 26 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'd keep them redlinked. Any voice actor who's performed in multiple commercially-released movies/TV series is probably notable enough for an article, even if one doesn't exist yet. Shimeru 04:01, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
