Aerolineas Argentinas[edit]

Aerolíneas doesn't fly and will not fly from Madrid to Beijing or Shanghai. The reference is outdated, those flights were introduced and later suspended. Thus, I remove the destinations from the list.--Estradin 13:49, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have edited the page to add the date of the inaguration of the metro extension to T4 : First week of May 2007 , probably May 2 .

Included a link to a ministry of infrastructure document , relating to the Cercanias link between Chamartin and MAD T4 .

Include the mention to "Module D" , and the correct amount of debris :40,000 tonnes .

Move the "2006 bombings" to a less relevant space , at the bottom of the page . I suggest to the editor to remove that section as soon as possible . We cannnot tolerate cobard terrorist to influence us .

Recover some photographs I added some months ago , and I have seen removed most of them . The photos are good , and the architecture spectacular , so those photos are relevant to the article. MAD T4 has been awarded multiples times for it's architecture and some photos of the terminal are relevant to the article.



I have removed the reference to Skytrax for 2 reasons

1) Skytrax is know for giving awards and punctuations based on who is paying . The airlinequality.com website is a proof of that . It has no credibility as an independent airline information source , it's just a public image agency .

2) The 3 star awarded to MAD by Skystrax was given before Terminal 4 and the new runaways were inagurated , and hasn't been revised since. So it's an outdated reference.

I would suggest to the editor to eliminate any reference to Skytrax or airlinequality.com from Wikipedia.org , due to it's lack of indepence and objetivity .

I have corrected the article because wrongly say that Richard Rogers was the designer of MAD T4 .

That's not true.

In the mid 90 a number of reputed architects ( Calatrava , Bofill , Lamela ... ) bid for the project of the new Terminal 4 at Madrid Barajas .

Estudio Lamela , www.lamela.com , won the pre-selection process .

Only after passing the pre-selection by AENA , Carlos Lamela went to London to visit Richard Rogers to get them involved also in the project, because of the experience of Rogers in the development of LHR T5 .

The Lamela-Rogers won the final bid of AENA to Calatrava's project , with this one .

The leading architet team was Estudio Lamela , with Richard Rogers team as secondary architects.

I have corrected the omission of Lamela in the phrase

with

The award was granted to the building and because of that in the Stirling ceremony , representatives of AENA ( airport owner ) and Lamela , along with Richard Rogers himself received the prize.


I have notice also that the british press try to eliminate references to Estudio Lamela on the project .


I have modified the link to the

To note that MAD-BCN is the busiest route ( Airport to Airport) in term of frecuencies and passengers .

Not confuse that with city pairs.

Also to note that MAD-BCN is a DOMESTIC route .


If we are talking about terminals floor area Madrid-Barajas is the biggest with 1,000,000 sq. meters of terminals (about 11 million sq.ft.), which is about 1.7 times the size of ATL's current terminal complex (including concourses A, B, C, D and E) and twice the size of HKG's terminal.

Anybody knows of any airport in the world , bigger in term of terminal area ?

I find the "Aerial View" image very interesting, because illustrates perfectly the new Terminal layout .

Now Barajas has 2 terminals, really :

1) Terminal 4 ( and T-4 Satellite that is accesed and exit by the Terminal 4)

2) The 3 adyacents old terminals : T1-T2-T3

Terminal 4, is for exclusive use of Iberia and all other Oneworld . Apparently a "new" layout for the old terminals will be :

T-1: Spanair and all Star Alliance airlines.

T-3: Air Europe and all Sky Team airlines .

T-2: Non-Schengen flights of all the airlines of T-1, T-2 .

How many passengers flew between Madrid Barajas Airport and all the US airports in 2005 ? Answer: 1.356.513 passengers.

How many passengers flew between Madrid Barajas and Barcelona in 2005 ? Answer: 4.571.073 ( European busiest sector)


Maybe it would be good to include some public opinions about terminal 4, rather than just the marketing info. I pass through this terminal all the time and it adds about 1/2 hour on to the journey. The terminal is huge. You have to walk for ages to get to one point to another through largely unused space, as well you have to catch a train inside the terminal just to get to the gates. I don't see how that reduces the stress of travel.

The name "Barajas Airport" is neither the official name of the airport, which is "Madrid-Barajas Airport" (as appears in the official airport website), nor a name commonly used in English ("Madrid Airport" is surely much more familiar). It is true that people in Spain often refer to it as "(aeropuerto de) Barajas", but this colloquial usage is unofficial, and uncommon in English.   • Support in principle. Not sure about whether or not to use the - in the name, though. That would seem like a convention in other European languages, and thus might occur in a translation if the people doing it aren't familiar with those sort of conventions. In French, one might refer to the airports in Paris as Paris-CdG and Paris-Orly, whereas in English we should drop the hyphens and use Paris CDG and Paris Orly. Disagree (in part). Either Barajas Airport or Madrid Barajas Airport is fine; however, I don't agree "Madrid Airport" is the way to go. That's not the airport's name, nor is it the commonly used term.
The Paris examples cited above are not really correct: Paris-CDG and Paris-Orly are only used in short, to differentiate between the two. The articles themselves are named appropriately, in keeping with the airport names. Jasepl (talk) 20:24, 27 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I can't really see any problem with the hyphen. In the English-speaking world there are a few US airports with hyphenated names, like St. Petersburg-Clearwater or Birmingham-Shuttlesworth. There is also an airport called Kalgoorlie-Boulder in Australia. And anyway, regardless of our spelling preferences, that is how the Spanish airport authorities have decided to spell the name in both Spanish and English (note that the link I provided in my comment above is an English-language page in the Aena website), so I think 'Madrid-Barajas Airport' is definitely better than any of the non-official variants. The case you have provided are not equivalent. St. Petersburg-Clearwater is so named because it serves St. Petersburg and Clearwater (see also Leeds-Bradford Airport). Kalgoorlie-Boulder is so named because the name of the municipality it serves is Kalgoorlie-Boulder. The usual English styling for airports named after the locality of the city they serve, such as London Heathrow Airport, London Gatwick Airport, Rome Ciampino Airport, Cuneo Levaldigi Airport, etc. I'm not sure Aena is an authority on the English language. 81.110.104.91 (talk) 18:17, 1 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Need an admin to create edit notice regarding Iberia/LAX[edit]

Up till now, Iberia's new Los Angeles route next April has been added and removed 10 times, as a firm date has yet to be announced, which is a Wikiproject requirement for listing. Can an admin please create an edit notice so the many IPs will give up? This is a recommendation after I raised it up at Wikipedia talk:Template messages/User talk namespace. Stats source[edit]

Are there any sources for the 2010 International routes stadistics, I see changes on this section EVERYDAY, who has the source? please post it or it is completely innacurate. Tokyo, Japan has more passangers than Miami, FL when neither Iberia or Japan Airlines fly to Tokyo.. samething with New Delhi. Route Statistics[edit]

Someone really messed with the route stats table and put in obviously innacurate data, including inflated passenger numbers (1.4 million a year from Toronto) and wrong airlines servicing certain destinations. Adolfo Suárez International Airport[edit]

This won't be the new name of the airport. It'll be Adolfo Suárez, Madrid-Barajas Airport as said at the Spanish Ministerio de Fomento page. Appart from this, the Ministerial Order to change the name has not been published yet in Spain, so the article should go back to Madrid-Barajas Airport until the new name is published at BOE.--AMPERIO (talk) 19:15, 24 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

As a matter of fact, there is no airport in Spain called INTERNATIONAL, as it is usual in the rest of the world, because ALL Spanish airports are international (no matter they have no international scheduled flights). The name change has not been officially published, neither being implemented into the Aeronautical Information System, NOTAM, nor the Aerodrome AIP. Article title[edit]

Checking the page history, I see this airport was moved back and forth several times in 2014. For whatever it's worth, es.wikipedia still omits Suárez, and omitting title names isn't uncommon. Should this just go back to Madrid-Barajas Airport? SnowFire (talk) 21:35, 16 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguate Asphalt[edit]

Hello, I'm trying to help reduce the number of pages that link to Asphalt, which is a disambiguation page. The most common pages that people mean to link to are Bitumen for the petroleum-based substance and Asphalt concrete for the composite pavement material partially made out of that substance.

Since I haven't hit the 500 edit milestone yet, could one of you autoconfirmed users change [[Asphalt]] to [[Asphalt concrete|Asphalt]] in the infobox on this page?
