I question whether he is an earthworm. Maybe substitute just "worm"? He digs through apples like appleworms, bread like mealworms, and has a foot like a male ascaris roundworm (I almost suspect humor there). Plus, little kids don't understand a lot about speciation. Maybe he is just an anthropomophic worm, useful for whatever purpose Richard Scary had at the moment?174.252.96.95 (talk) 13:05, 24 March 2013 (UTC)mjr[reply]

I might inclined to agree with you; on the other hand, the character description on the Sterling Children's Books website does say "anthropomorphic earthworm".[1] Whatever species of worm wears a Tyrolean hat, that's the species Lowly is. --Arxiloxos (talk) 17:52, 24 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
