Language and grammar[edit]

There are some issues with the grammar of this article; much of it seems to have been lifted from the article on Mme Dupin at the French wiki and simply run through Google translate, which is often unreliable. Comparing it with the French text - I'm fully fluent in French - there are many instances in this piece where pronouns and tenses are wrong, or where a stock expression has been "misunderstood" by Google's software. Also, historical present tense ("He finds that the revolution becomes far more violent than he had hoped for, and in 1793 he is arrested and locked up for his opposition...he is forced to trick his accusers") is a much more common device in French than in modern English. I'll give the article a run-through as soon as I find the time. Strausszek (talk) 03:26, 3 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Language and grammar II[edit]

As has been noted by Strausszek the language and grammar leave much to be desired. I have improved some, but something of this quality would have better not been posted. Anybody can run the French version through google translate to get an idea.

I did not touch the quote from Robert Ranjard: Le secret de Chenonceau, Tours, ed. Gibert-Clarey, 8 June 1976 (1st. ed. 1950), 256 p., "Monsieur et madame Dupin", pp. 177-210, because I expected it to correct, but given the various mistakes, I have my doubts about this.

Somebody really needs to make sure that the language in this entry is accurate.
