Date of resignation of Bourg[edit]

I find two apparently contradictory dates, 1534 and 1535. This may not be an actual contradiction, if Gorrevod resigned in April of 1534 and the diocese was suppressed in 1535. But I have not yet found precise information to settle the point. --Vicedomino (talk) 07:25, 21 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Jean de Loriol[edit]

Jean de Loriol, or Jean Orioli, was indeed a relation of Louis de Gorrevod. He was his uncle, son of Jacques and Marie de Virieu: These are his details: Docteur ès-décrets Pronotaire apostolique Chanoine des églises de Vienne, Genève et Lyon Curé de Foissia Vicaire d'Abondance Prévôt de Notre-Dame de Bourg Prieur commendataire de Neuville et Bron Abbé de Saint-Pons Vicaire général de l'église de Genève dès 1496 Evêque de Nice de 1501 à 1505

He was, according to Vatican papers, to be elevated to an Archbishopric, but died before being conformed as such, in 1506. He spent his own money on aggrandising the church of Bourg en Bresse. Details can be found in S Guichenon, Histoire de La Bresse et du Bugey. Croissy1955 (talk) 19:40, 26 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
