Formerly?[edit]

From the intro: The Los Angeles Zoo (formally the Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens)... the website still says Zoo and Botanical Gardens. Think the author was mistaken. 50.113.107.91 (talk) 16:27, 15 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It doesn't say "formerly", it says "formally". This simply means that the full name of the zoo is Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens, but the more common name is just "Los Angeles Zoo". Don Lammers (talk) 19:10, 15 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Naming[edit]

If the zoo is rebranding itself to "The Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens" (The Web site seems to indicate this, but the entrance sign photo just says "Los Angeles Zoo), the the article name should be changed. If we are not going to change the name, then the intro sentence should be reverted to "Los Angeles Zoo (formally ...)" I have no personal preference as to what the name should be, but it should be reflected in the intro and the infobox properly. If someone does not propose a name change I am going to revert the intro. Don Lammers (talk) 20:10, 8 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The Los Angeles Zoo is still the WP:COMMONNAME for the subject and should be used as the article name. The formal name, which includes "and Botanical Gardens", can be noted in the intro. I think the last edit should be reverted to reflect this. 72Dino (talk) 20:45, 8 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Also, even the recent press releases by the zoo use the term "Los Angeles Zoo" by itself in the body of the releases, not the full formal name. 72Dino (talk) 20:48, 8 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Koala-kidnapping-Cougar[edit]

There's also been break-in by a cougar, dubbed P-22, who kidnapped and ate a koala. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.186.6.124 (talk) 21:06, 20 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
