LHS Pictures[edit]

Please add Pictures I don't know how to 172.190.145.30 05:05, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I dont either —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lhsman (talkcontribs) 21:51, May 5, 2007
I can help with that. For best results, it should be an image that you actually own, as opposed to something off a website somewhere. If you have something like that, me know. --Elonka 00:30, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Teacher Roster[edit]

I don't think the entire teacher roster belongs on the page. Jmlk17 23:42, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I would appreciate an input on this from anyone. Jmlk17 23:53, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed, the teacher list is not appropriate, unless someone can show that a complete list of teachers is showing up in the press for some reason. See WP:V. --Elonka 00:19, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notable Alumni[edit]

Has anybody investigated whether there are notable alumni who did not become professional football players or wifebeaters? I know Kip Thorne (astronomer at Caltech) grew up in Logan. Might he be a Logan High grad? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.178.52.48 (talk) 02:02, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Major cleanup[edit]

I removed a significant amount of information from this article because it doesn't meet the requirements of being encyclopedic. Some things to keep in mind when editing and expanding this article:

  • 1. If it can't be verified with an outside source, don't include it.
  • 2. Avoid phrases like "Logan High School is known for..." or "many regard.." etc. unless a third-party source has actually stated such a thing. Keep in mind, while the school may be known at a local and regional level for having a decent arts program or a great football team, Wikipedia is a worldwide audience that probably not only doesn't know LHS has a great arts program, but likely didn't even know the school existed before reading this article. State things that can be verified and are objective; free of opinion.
  • 3. Avoid using teacher names unless that teacher has achieved some sort of notoriety outside of the school. Wikipedia is not a directory or a second webpage to the school, nor is it a newsletter or travel log.(see WP:NOT)
  • 4. Be careful not to just copy and paste things from other websites, even the school's website. It is considered a copyright violation. If you use a direct quote, make sure it is properly referenced (see WP:CITE)
  • 5. Make sure all information is relevant to the article topic (Logan High School). Just try to imagine reading an entry in a published encyclopedia about the school. What would it say?
  • 6. Add pictures where you can! If you have a digital camera, take pictures of the school and the area around it to further enhance the article. Avoid using pictures off the school's website or anyone's website because of possible copyright violations. You can upload any public domain image (something you took yourself basically) at the Wikpedia Commons.

The purpose of Wikipedia articles is not to promote the topics of each article, but to educate people on them. A school's website is for subjective promotion; Wikipedia is for an objective, neutral, and scholarly article about a given topic, the same as a published encyclopedia.

Notable alumni[edit]

Along the lines of what I said a year ago about this article, be careful about the Notable alumni list. Generally, only people who have Wikipedia articles about them should be included. Exceptions are when the person has some notability that can be established from third-party sources. Such is the case for Rod Tueller, who was a past coach of the Utah State Aggies men's basketball team, a notable topic. It would not be out of the question for an article to be written about him since most NCAA Division I coaches have articles about them. In general, though, it's best to just stick with people who have an article about them because then there is less question of notability. The two names that have been re-added recently are not notable and have no sources on top of that. Adding them again will constitute vandalism. --JonRidinger (talk) 03:40, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
