The Joy Of Pepsi[edit]

Should "The Joy Of Pepsi" be included on this page? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.107.207.132 (talk) 22:49, 6 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • It think is should be on this article, cause the article is about all the songs that BS recorded and released, incluiding her commercials songs. Fortunato luigi (talk) 00:11, 20 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Is a jingle really a song or is there a full version of the Joy of Pepsi out there? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cousy20 (talkcontribs) 22:57, 5 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Scope[edit]

I've started a discussion about the scope of this list at Talk:Britney Spears discography#List of Britney Spears songs.

Article structure[edit]

Some people is trying to change the article, just like that. Those guys create a list of "unreleased songs", and then, on that list, a list of "unnofficially released songs". Let's see: unreleased or released??? Then, the article structure is Officially Released - Unreleased songs -Unnoficially Released songs - Miscellaneous songs - Cover versions -. This structure marks the difference between the songs, i mean, we difference the way "Toxic" was released and the way "Hooked On" was. The songs must be separeted. Want the unreleased songs by year, fine, but dont merge them, please. Fortunato luigi (talk) 04:50, 4 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unreleased songs[edit]

I was just watching the article and thought: "Kiss You All OVer", "Hooked On", "Baby Boy", "Dramatic", "Telephone", "When I Say So", "Mad Love" and "Am I A Sinner?" are with the officially released songs, while they weren't finished, so a few weeks ago, I put the last four at Leaked uncompleted songs, but now they're back to where they used to... This is wrong, 'cuz you can hear that they're not finished... With Kiss You All Over, Hooked On, Dramatic, Mad Love and Am I A Sinner you ehar it with her voice. Baby Boy starts at half of the intro. Telephone is even confirmed it's still a demo and not finished. And with When I Say So, there should be a proper rapper instead of the person who wrote it. Daddy I Love You is NOT a Britney Spears song[edit]

It's a Billie Jo Spears song! See also Billie Jo Spears discography#Singles.

Do not add it. 109.92.196.172 (talk) 14:59, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Kiss You All Over, State of Grace, Pull Out[edit]

They are now registered without Britney Spears as performer, because when they were rejected by Britney, they were offered to other artists. Same for Telephone, so we shouldn't include Telephone either? Also there was a link of Sean Garrett talking about Kiss You All Over, if I find it I'll post it. All three of them are leaked and they exist.

Exactly, but there are no sources supporting the leaks of KYAO, State or Grace or Pull Out. And remember, this list doesn't include mentions by producers (there are tons who claim Britney recorded their songs). The difference with Telephone is that this one received attention from the media and has reliable sources to support it. Xwomanizerx (talk) 16:16, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Can this be used? http://slumz.boxden.com/f172/credits-sean-garrett-writing-discog-1268349/
Or this for State of Grace? http://www.muumuse.com/2010/09/glitter-and-diamonds-interview-with-steve-anderson-part-one.html --PlatinumFire 16:25, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I don't even know what the first link is, but you can use the second one for State of Grace since part II of that interview is used for Grow. And you should also add a BMI/ASCAP link. Xwomanizerx (talk) 18:03, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Added. I don't really know about the first link, but it has all of sean garrett-written songs listed including those two britney songs registered on BMI. --PlatinumFire 18:14, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

For My Sister, Can Carper, It's Britney Spears Baby[edit]

It was never intended for any of her albums, just a song she wrote for her sister. It would be like including the lullabies she sings to her children.

But she recorded it, and has a source supporting it. Xwomanizerx (talk) 16:16, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Can Carper is a song or some part of a commercial [not confirmed that it is a song, not only songs are being registered], so I think it should not be included, because it is not part of her discography if it was made for a commercial. Same for intros/outros that is It's Britney Spears Baby. --PlatinumFire 16:02, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Can Caper is still part of her unreleased material, and again, was noted by a third party. Same with It's Britney Spears Baby. Xwomanizerx (talk) 16:16, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
OK but still her unreleased commercial song gets a mention, but her actual commercial songs aren't mentioned anywhere. --PlatinumFire
What? Xwomanizerx (talk) 18:03, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I was saying her unreleased song made for a commercial "Can Carper" is mentioned [here], but her songs actually used for commercials like "Right Now" or "Joy of Pepsi" aren't mentioned anywhere [I think]. --PlatinumFire 18:10, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well I'm not sure but I think her other Pepsi songs were released in some Pepsi promo CD, but I'm not sure. Xwomanizerx (talk) 18:14, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Correct. I live in Israel and I remember the period that a CD including Right Now and some other bonuses (of britney's of course) was given with the six-bottle packages of Pepsi. However, I don't have or remember CDs with The Joy of Pepsi or Now and Then, but its worth cheking. Anyway, doesn't it sound wrong to call these unreleased songs? Because britney performed these and made commercials with these.. The Joy of Pepsi maybe was not a part of any CD, compilation, online store etc. in AUDIO, but it's VIDEO is included in Britney: The Videos. saying it's unreleased sounds pretty ridiculous, doesn't it?... --Peace and Me (talk) 04:06, 5 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Umbrella[edit]

What about Umbrella that finally given to Rihanna? I think the story is pretty obvious and there's no doubt the song was intented to be Britney's, there is even a demo of her singing a line from the song. I can search a source if necessary. --Peace and Me (talk) 04:06, 5 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ridiculous. Britney never even heard the demo for "Umbrella". Xwomanizerx (talk) 13:38, 5 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I am pretty sure I heard a demo of her's for the song, but it was extremely short and I can't say for sure it was her. Anyway, got it, Thanks :) --Peace and Me (talk) 16:51, 5 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Some other artists including Mandy Moore have covered the song. Maybe it's someone else. If you find any information, find a reliable source too. Novice7 | Talk 16:55, 5 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I agree it may be fake, thanks for all the answers! --Peace and Me (talk) 17:32, 5 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
As I said earlier, if you find a good source, feel free to add :) Novice7 | Talk 06:16, 6 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Leaked songs, dates and sorting[edit]

I noticed this entry and came up with the idea of creating a column indicates the date of leak \ snippet \ publishing etc. As a user that found this list useful, I would like to add a column such as the one I am offering, or a similar one. I think this addition will make the use much more efficient, easier and simpler, especially because the user wants to know if the song leaked or not. This kind of information can be very useful for some people, and surprisingly this information is lacking, or only supplying notes of the date of leak of the songs did leak, and this can be extremely inconvenient to use. some people (and myself) just want to know which songs leaked and which did not.

in the beginning my idea was to create a column that will note only if the unreleased song leaked or not, like this:

Song Writers Notes Leaked
Take the Bait Writers Notes No
Telephone Writers Notes Yes
Rebellion Writers Notes A snippet

but I realized this will overwhelm the entry and it just seemed unnecessary.

So instead I thought about this, a "Date of Leak" column, that can be used just like my previous idea: if the song leaked, the date is noted instead of "yes", and if it didnt, the cell is blank or has a not such as "didn't leak". Example:

Song Writers Date of Leak Notes
Take the Bait Writers Did not leak Notes
Telephone Writers May 3, 2010 Notes
Rebellion Writers October 2006 (a snippet) Notes

This way the user can know if the song leaked or not, the date of leak and most of all - it looks substantive and practical, despite my previous idea that makes it look like a redundant column. I know the dates are in the notes, but think about it - I had to read ALL the notes to know which songs leaked and which didn't, and that was exhausting.

In fact, now that I am thinking about it, there are a lot of notes that can and should be sorted to classes, such as: Date of leak (dicussed) Registered with - Honestly, all these colors and symbols are really confusing.. Sorry. Published by - most of the songs in the chart has that note, I think a special column can be helpful. Original purpose - optional, but may be useful for the songs failed to make an album, made for a commercial etc. Final purpose - optional, rarely being used. song like "Follow me", "Telephone", "State of Grace", "Look Who's Talking" etc.

I think it can be really useful and help the organization a lot, and make the use much easier and simpler. watch example:

Song Writers Registerd With Publisher Date of Leak Notes
Abroad Marcella Araica
Danja
Ezekiel Lewis
Balewa Muhammad
Candice Nelson
Patrick M. Smith
BMI Christopher Matthew Music
Hitco Music
Am I a Sinner July 29, 2010
Bring Me Home
Can Caper Samuel Paul Godin ASCAP Audile Productions
  • Had been scheduled as the theme for a Pepsi commercial starring Spears
Downtown Kara DioGuardi

I know the table is getting bigger and compressed taht way, but I think it will make the use easier and more organized.
