The Leonardo might never have been the tallest in Africa[edit]

It turns out the second tallest building in Africa is a skyscraper that doubles as the minaret of the Djamaa el Djazaïr (or Great Mosque of Algiers), which was completed in 2019, the same year as The Leonardo, and which is substantially taller than it. According to this sublink of the source used in List of tallest buildings in Africa, it is occupied (by office space and a museum), making it a building rather than just a structure, and its architectural height is the same as its structural height (in both cases 264,3 m; architectural height is used to compare the heights of skyscrapers).

I can't figure out when in 2019 each building was completed, but it's possible The Leonardo was actually only ever the second tallest building on the continent. ENEvery (talk) 20:14, 9 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
