Royston RD in Essex[edit]

Vision of Britain isn't very clear about this, but if you look at the parish pages it becomes clear that:

  • it contained 3 parishes - Heydon, Great Chishill and Little Chishill
  • these had been in Royston RSD but in the county of Essex, so in 1894 could not be placed in Melbourn RD (Cambridgeshire) or Ashwell RD (Hertfordshire)
  • in 1895 the parishes were transferred to Cambridgeshire and the district merged with Melbourn RD--Keith Edkins ( Talk ) 10:18, 2 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
