july 1990[edit]

while i note the citation there seems to be a lack of support for this pardon by the department of justice. this site [1] shows no petitions were granted in 1990. and the bush pardons page[2] shows no pardons that year, brings doubt upon that post. --Some thing 05:36, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

citation check[edit]

The first source[3] shows no pardons in '92 yet your second source does.

Here are some sources

"New York Times was the lonely voice denouncing Bush's pardon on an editorial published July 20, 1990."[4]

Our Man's in Miami. Patriot or Terrorist? By Ann Louise Bardach Sunday, April 17, 2005; Page B03 Washington Post[5]

Plus the source I already sited in the article.

Also look at the Orlando Bosch Wikipedia article. --67.173.184.65 05:56, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

citation check2[edit]

the wiki article says it was a rifle not a bazooka. this article makes it seem far from a pardon[6] --Some thing 06:02, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

keep in check[edit]

A recoiless rifle IS a bazooka. Anne Coulter[7] doesn't seem to see the difference between a rifle and a bazooka. --67.173.184.65 06:17, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Removed Orlando Bosch[edit]

No source says he was pardoned and the latest says unofficial pardon and an unofficial pardon is not a pardon. Jons63 00:06, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orlando Bosch[edit]

"The Bush dynasty and the Cuban criminals", The Gaurdian, December 2 2002. Quote: "Most controversially, at the request of Jeb, Mr Bush Sr intervened to release the convicted Cuban terrorist Orlando Bosch from prison and then granted him US residency." 99.148.47.196 (talk) 17:08, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Intervention is not the same as nullifying charges. That is what you are implying Bush did. You have provided nothing that any charges were nullified. We agree that Bush helped secure his release. This article is not about people who Bush helped secure a release, it is about the Constitutional power of the President to pardon or commute sentences. Bush did not pardon or commute any sentence of Orlando Bosch. The article has said for a while that Bush intervened and Bosch was released. The same as what Bosch's article says. IMO it should remain this way. If you disagree I guess we could get some other editors to look over the changes and come to some decision. It might work lising the article at Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons/Noticeboard since Bush and Bosch are both alive. Jons63 (talk) 18:11, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Just another note, neither Bosch's nor Bush's article say any charges were nullified, only that Bosch was released after Bush intervened. Jons63 (talk) 18:15, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I agree strongly with Jons63. The presidential power to pardon comes directly from the U.S. Constitution. The word "pardon" thus has an extremely specific legal meaning. Orlando Bosch was never given a presidential pardon, and his name should not appear on the list. I put Bosch's name in the "See Also" section, which is about the best we can do for readers who are trying to find Bosch's name in the list of pardons. —Aetheling (talk) 01:02, 11 March 2008 (UTC).[reply]
