Where's William and Mary?[edit]

Why do we skip from 1685 to 1702? There was a coronation in 1689, no? john k (talk) 20:07, 31 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, it's a glaring omission. But I just did a quick search at the London Gazette, and I can't find any information about the coronation, so maybe that's why it's missing. Apparently it will require more in-depth research. Laura1822 (talk) 15:27, 9 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestions for additions[edit]

There are some important figures in the coronations who probably warrant being listed here, but aren't:

  1. the presiding cleric (usually the Archbishop of Canterbury)
  2. the Dean of Westminster (or whoever is acting in his place)
  3. the Great Officers of State, particularly the Earl Marshal, who organizes the whole coronation, and the other three who participate in the recognition ceremony (The Lord High Chancellor, the Lord Great Chamberlain, and the Lord High Constable), but arguably the rest, as well.
  4. the Household Officers, particularly the Lord Chamberlain, Lord Steward, and Master of the Horse
  5. the Bishops of Bath and Wells and of Durham, who stand beside the monarch
  6. the Garter Principal King of Arms
  7. the Field Marshal or General commanding the Troops

Also, shouldn't the Master of Mistress of the Robes be distinguished from the others carrying the monarch's train? john k (talk) 20:58, 31 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
