Peratt instability[edit]

I did a search on Google Scholar for "Peratt instabilities" (with quote marks) and only turned up 4 refs, none of which I would trust to back up this claim (e.g. the ref given in one paper to Peratt instabilities was published in 1878!). Searching on 'Peratt instability' without quotes gives lots of hits, but that's because Peratt has done lots of work on plasma instabilities. Is there a reliable source, preferably secondary, which describes or at least names a Peratt instability? Meantime I've marked it as cite needed. A sad fact[edit]
