Alphabetisation[edit]

I have done a rough alphabetisation of the characters within the categories by first name. However, many of the recurring characters do not have a description yet and so have for the moment been left. Descriptions for these could possibly do with being added if the character is considered significant enough.Silverthorn 12:17, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I've been meaning to move the minor non-recurring characters (basically everyone but the "big bads" and characters with some significant emotional role, like Edwards' family) back to the book pages, but haven't had time. TheronJ
The idea of moving the minor non-recurring characters to the book pages is a good one I think. It would keep all of the various lists for this series to a more manageable size.Silverthorn 13:19, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Anita Blake[edit]

The Anita Blake information has been moved to its own article as the piece seemed sufficiently long as to deserve it. Silverthorn 16:57, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Which characters should go on this page?[edit]

TheronJ, I agree with your ideas, I (re?)added Dominga after finding a broken link on one screen and then wondering why she wasn't there in the first place. The first summary of hers could probably be re-added back, as it sounds better than the one I just put up. I think the "big bads" should definitely be somewhere, since they're a main part of a book, and it'd probably be easier to find them under a general page versus reading every book page.

Bekkie, I saw that you added Dominga Salvador back to this page. Earlier, Silverthorn and I had discussed whether to include the non-recurring characters to the general page, and Silverthorn actually took Salvador off this page a few weeks ago.[1] I'm not saying we should or shouldn't, and certainly appreciate all your good edits, but since it's coming up again, I propose the following:

  • All recurring human characters (characters who actually appear in more than one book) get a spot on the main page, even fairly uninteresting ones like Officer Maroni or ones who drop out after a few books like Luther the bartender.
  • For non-recurring characters, only "big bads" (the chief villian of each book, if any), and characters with strong emotional relevance appear, and they are listed by book, not alphabetically with the other characters. Therefore, Salvador and Gaynor get on the main page, but Enzo and Wheelchair Wanda don't. Edward's family makes it on, even though they're non-recurring, but Bernardo and Olaf don't. A character like Philip, who is emotionally important but non-recurring, is a judgment call.
  • Characters who don't appear at all, like Anita's fiance or step-mother, are included only if very important.

It's just a suggestion, and I won't be offended if people disagree. Thoughts? TheronJ 21:40, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I would agree with the suggestion. Recurring characters should be on the page because they are apparently important enough to the series for them to appear in more than one book. Non-recurring characters should be listed only if they have major significance e.g. the main villain. To have all the non-recurring characters in this article would make it cumbersome and far too long. Nor do many of them seem to justify entries both here and on the novel page. Should the same suggestion be applied to the other two pages, the vampires and the lycanthropes? Or has it been already? Plus, what kind of information should be there for the characters? Physical appearances and/or a comment about the personality or role in the book(s)? Is an one sentence description enough, or too little? Bekkie 15:45, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think it may have been brought up at the other pages, although you would need to check their talk pages to confirm it, but if it hasn't been mooted over there I think it should be. I would suggest descriptions are succinct, but informative. Most characters probably only justify a single paragraph of information total. However, I am sure there are others that may justify a little more, particularly if they begin to be regulars. Those are the ones though that seem to evolve into needing their own article, much as was the case with Anita, Richard and Jean-Claude to date. Silverthorn 16:13, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Request for comment on articles for individual television episodes and characters[edit]

A request for comments has been started that could affect the inclusion or exclusion of episode and character, as well as other fiction articles. Please visit the discussion at Wikipedia_talk:Notability_(fiction)#Final_adoption_as_a_guideline. Ikip (talk) 11:08, 3 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
