Verifiability, not truth[edit]

@Abhimanyu2609: Wikipedia values accuracy, but it requires verifiability. All content must be attributable to reliable sources. Self-published sources, such as blogs, are not reliable sources because anyone can claim anything in one (see policy WP:SPS and guideline WP:RS/SPS).

Box Office Bangladesh (boxofficebangladesh.wordpress.com) is a self-published blog, so it is not a reliable source. If you have any doubt, other Wikipedians have examined it and concluded that it is "absolutely unreliable for any and all purposes" and "completely not a reliable source".

Your assertion that if Box Office Bangladesh is not reliable, none of the article's sources are reliable, is an error in reasoning. The Times of India and The Telegraph are not self-published blogs. They are reputable major newspapers publishing the writing of credentialed journalists, under editorial oversight, and have a reputation for fact checking and accuracy. Other sources cited in the article would have to be examined on a case-by-case basis to determine whether they have the characteristics of reliable sources.

The Daily Star is a reliable source for the sorts of things newspapers are usually reliable for. However, it cannot be used to support the assertion that Shikari "did a great business in Tollywood" because it says nothing about how well it did in India. It only says that "Shikari was the most commercially successful [Bangladeshi] film of the year", without giving any figures or comparisons with Indian Bengali films that would justify placing it on a list of highest-grossing Bengali films.

You are welcome to nominate the article for deletion if you believe it fails WP:V and/or WP:LISTN, but a more productive approach would be to request that the article be moved to List of highest-grossing Indian Bengali films on the grounds that it and the available reliable sources don't present a world view of Bengali movies, but cover only those produced in India. --Worldbruce (talk) 04:03, 17 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Why?[edit]

Why is this a thing? we don't need pages dedicated to each Indian movie industries box office growth when List of highest-grossing Indian films does the job. Nikhilmn2002 (talk) 04:02, 26 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Jackace.in[edit]

In these edits I removed jackace.in as a reference. It's a poor source, as it is a content scraping blog. (Note the disclaimer at the bottom of the page, which says "The information (Images, Videos, Box Office, Collections And Others) provided here which is collect from various online & offline sources." So there's no editorial oversight going on. I've replaced the references with CN templates. The content no longer being sourced is at risk of deletion. Highest-grossing films by year[edit]

The Highest-grossing films by year section is an utter mess. More than a few unsourced, most of those don't have a sourced gross in the article and some that were sourced didn't mention that in the article! Those have been removed, btw. Ravensfire (talk) 21:50, 18 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Actually worldbruce changed it and you also do some wrong edits For eg 1945,1950 and 1951 please change it because sahajatri(1951) film is flop but you mention this film as highest grossing please change it Sumancranebuddy21q00 (talk) 15:25, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
