Kurt Stille 1960 Winter Olympics[edit]

Kurt Stille is listed here as flag bearer for the 1960 Winter Olympics. I have added a cite needed tag to the entry because no one is listed as flag bearer by the general source for those games.[1] Stille's entry was included with the page creation by User:Violetriga, (inactive since 2019) so it's survived from day one.

I suppose it's possible Stille was added to the list on the strength he was the only Danish athlete at that Olympics. However, it's not unlikely that they would have instead had a team official carry the flag with Stille walking behind, as opposed to him carrying it alone or with a coach or trainer walking behind him.

The point is, it's unsourced and I couldn't find anything that supports Stille as flag bearer. Indeed, the fact that the source has no flag bearer for those games, while the same source also indicates there was only a single athlete on that squad[2] is telling. If Stille was the flag bearer, this would be an easy inclusion for the researchers. That they leave it blank suggests to me it's more likely some unknown team official carried it instead, which is not unheard of.

I'm letting it stand for now, but I may remove it in the future depending on what, if anything, comes to light. --DB1729talk 04:40, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Update: According to this, [3] Stille marched with Norway during the ceremony, so there was no flag bearer for Denmark. I am removing the entry from this list now. --DB1729talk 14:30, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
