I wonder what the logic is of splitting this list by Latin letter by Amphoe. That does not make much sense. If the list is really too long, it would be better to split by region or some suitable subregion. Or by province (alphabetic groups). −Woodstone (talk) 13:17, 10 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The point is that someone using the list may not kn ow the region or tambon or province. This, I felt, was the best way of incorporating all elements in one list:-

  • if you know the region and tambon, you can sort each list by region and check for the tambon you know then x-refer to the amphoe. With a similar method to find tambon changwat or Amphoe, for the whole of Thailand.

If this doesn't make sense for you then you have the following choices:-

  1. request deletion
  2. Modify the table to suit your taste (ensuring that the original intention of a sortable collection of all tambons, amphoe and changwat is retained)
  3. request me to modify it for you (probably better as I know the ins and outs of the table).
  4. do nothing
  5. write your own tables

Petebutt (talk) 16:28, 12 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It would probably be rare that someone would look for an amphoe without knowing the changwat and region. Since you have divided into seven portions (I assume for size reasons), it would be more appropriate to split by the 6 regions mentioned in Provinces of Thailand (N, E, S, W, NE, C) and Bangkok. If someone would not know the region, a plain wikisearch would find the amphoe for them. I do not know if you intend this list to be complete right now, but I was missing amphoe Chomphra (Surin). My choice of the opportunities offered above would obviously be nr 3 ;-). −Woodstone (talk) 05:07, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The problems resolves to file size. When you approach 200 kB pages can overload slower internet connections / computers / internet devices. Apart from that why not write less detailed lists for regions , changwat , tambon etc.Petebutt (talk) 05:12, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It seems that i have hit the right note, or near it. No news is good news, in this case, as there have been plenty of hits on the pages with no adverse comments, so far. Does anybody have any ideas for improvements?Petebutt (talk) 15:18, 9 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

New table format[edit]

A lot of work was done to restructure the Thai amphoe, province and region tables in a more accessible form. It is much easier now to find a particular place. I happened to notice a few glitches. Phra Phrom and Don Phut seem to have some inconsistency in province. −Woodstone (talk) 08:33, 13 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It might be better to put Khet and Khwaeng in the heading of the Bangkok table. −Woodstone (talk) 08:45, 13 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Amphoe or District[edit]

To head off any complaints about moving all Amphoe articles to district articles, it should be remembered that AMPHOE is not a word, merely a phonetic representation of a Thai word in thai script, therefore it has no place in the title of articles in en.wikipedia.org.Petebutt (talk) 09:07, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Where's Yasothon?[edit]

Really, where? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.122.101.83 (talk) 09:11, 4 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Good catch. I have added it, except for the Thai spellings of the districts. Since the list is sortable, I just put them at the end. −Woodstone (talk) 16:47, 4 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Missing[edit]

I discovered that the two Amphoe which I live on the border of were not in the list , probably a brain fart on my part, and then quite a few more were not there also. I have checked against the district articles and added the offending entries. Can someone else do a check as well please?Petebutt (talk) 14:01, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Chom Thong - link incorrect[edit]

Saturday , 12 May 2012

L.S. ,

I've added Chom Thong - Bangkok and the link redirects to the correct page .

However , Chom Thong - Chiang Mai directs to the same page ( Bangkok ) instead of the correct one : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chom_Thong_District,_Chiang_Mai_Province .

Can the author please modify the entry for Chiang Mail to direct to the correct page  ?

Adding Thai spelling of region[edit]

User:Tris_T7 is adding the Thai spelling of the region in every line. In my opinion this is pure clutter in the table. It would suffice to add the spelling of the few existing regions once in the introduction. −Woodstone (talk) 04:48, 3 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Dear : @Woodstone Thank you for concern but the reason i added so reader can select region of thailand also i am going to added refernce for each region and try to add reference as it need. Should i stop it or added wait for discussion with others first ? this way it also can easy to track the missing one and also additional in future can easily track and compare with source. But let me know about it. it also would be nice if it could seperate section for each region in thailand. and also add some of colours for represent each region that what i am planning to add in this article some how transliteration of each District need to recheck again because i found some error from it.

So please kindly let me know but if need to revert back to original at lease need to consideration Northen instead of north for region of district....Thank you ..Tris T7 (talk) 05:46, 3 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If there are some sample provide here that would be nice so i am happy when we have consensus from community. but i should continue to complete it for now and i will count each region with updated 2018 references i have and once it all check and add missing or check typo we can add any feature as need. Thank you again for support. ..Tris T7 (talk) 05:55, 3 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

what i edited will related to many of article and set standard such as ISO_3166-2:TH

The reader can already select by region, because the translated names are already in a column. Adding the Thai script separately in every line does not add any information. Of course typing errors or errors in transcription should be corrected (please adhere to RTGS), but this whole Thai column with enormouds repetition does not add value. The transcriptions of the regions can be added in the introduction. −Woodstone (talk) 06:44, 3 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Although the full name may for example be "North-Eastern Thailand", in the table it seems better to write North-East. An adjective without substantive looks ugly. Also in speech, people would normally say "I am from the North-East". See for example how it is done in Regions of Thailand. −Woodstone (talk) 07:19, 3 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
on that article it has template This article needs additional citations for verification. Please help improve this articleby adding citations to reliable sources. Unsourced material may be challenged and removed. since (January 2012) same with this article and i dont know why nobody update it. just a quick question Do you have chance to recheck all district as updated 2018 ? Are there any missing ? ..Tris T7 (talk) 09:28, 3 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Here are some of sample from List_of_districts_in_India such as (East Nimar) (West Nimar) East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, North Goa, South Goa, South East Delhi, South West Delhi, South Delhi, North East Delhi, North Delhi, East Delhi, Central Delhi

and for Country as Northern_Ireland it is north part of country as Thailand is noun and Nothern as adjective so i am trying to use nothern western southern because article is about districts in thailand to put thailand in every part it a little too much that why i used adjective as I did but we can also use North of Thailand South of Thailand Central of Thailand if we all can agreed with consensus of this issue otherwise someone would bring the same situation up again in future. I hope to vote might be the best idea on this but i did it before vote as common sense for right term to use them. but happy to revise when we have it vote on this.

if we use table as comparison from Regions of Thailand it easy for individual region. but to put all at once it would need more option for reader. that is some of my opinion. Hope to get some more from community for finalize. Thank you...Tris T7 (talk) 09:21, 3 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I have two separate main points with your edits:
  1. Adding the Thai script over and over again, where the English names are already given adds no value and creates clutter.
  2. In a stand-alone context, substantives, not adjectives should be used. See for example this government site. It writes "northern region", but "the north" (m.m.) on its own in many instances.
Woodstone (talk) 10:19, 3 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Since this is the English Wikipedia, the use of Thai script kept to a minimum. In this case, I'd argue that the only warranted use of Thai script is for the names of the districts themselves. The Thai scripts for the provinces should be removed. I'm not actually convinced that the region should be mentioned in this page at all. --Paul_012 (talk) 10:30, 3 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Dear @Paul 012 @Woodstone i am testing 1 case study for conclusion and if this got an answer so i will fix and remove what i did and only add reference as tag
Can you tell me where is Tha Luang Lopburi base in Thailand ? which region of Tha Luang belong to in Thailand ? and if you need to get there would you take Northern Bus or Western Bus or Southern Bus ?
Please let me know as soon as you could so i can handle to revert article back as before also without region how do you know how many Provinces in each region ? and are there missing province in this aricle ?

Thank you so much for kind answer... i will be back shortly time for work out in Thailand. i will be back within 1 hour and dont worry about fixing article i will handle process to revert it if it need. Some how i would like you to consideration to provide how to find each province where it base that article must be able to find over 2xxx provinces and have information which region where it belong. Anyway thank you for respect other editor idea and brainstorm and try to find best solution for outcome. i will be back shortly.. Regards..Tris T7 (talk) 13:22, 3 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see how your question is relevant to the issue, but it's in the central region. The proper place to find that answer would be the Regions of Thailand article, where Lopburi is clearly noted in the table. --Paul_012 (talk) 21:13, 3 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I am confused. A few lines above Tris T7 agreed to revert to the state before adding massive redundant Thai script, but you seem to continue adding more. −Woodstone (talk) 18:12, 5 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Since Tris T7 is not follwoing up on his/her promise to remove the enormous redundancy in Thai script, I have collected them all in a small table in a new section.−Woodstone (talk) 07:46, 12 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
