Libyan Embassy in Malta[edit]

@Sir Tanx: There are two Libyan embassies in Malta – the one in Balzan (Dar El-Hana) which was the embassy during the Gaddafi era and was the embassy of the unrecognized Tripoli government, and the one in Ta' Xbiex which represented the recognized Tobruk government after the 2014 civil war. I don't know what the current situation is due to the Government of National Accord, but the Ministry for Foreign Affairs lists the Ta' Xbiex embassy on its website.

Balzan and Ta' Xbiex are not part of Valletta but towns in their own right, so I don't see why they should be listed as being in Valletta. The examples you stated, Dahlem and Østerbro, are districts/quarters of Berlin and Copenhagen, not separate localities. Xwejnusgozo (talk) 09:49, 24 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I removed the Balzan embassy but kept the Ta' Xbiex one which is recognized as the legitimate embassy by the Maltese government. Xwejnusgozo (talk) 09:51, 24 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Xwejnusgozo:. Thanks for your interest in the Diplomatic List articles and for your efforts to keep them updated. The longstanding concensus is that embassies in the Diplomatic Lists articles are listed by city served (the government of accreditation) and not by locality. The Ministries of Foreign Affairs worldwide use this practice and it is standard practice in all Diplomatic Missions articles. A lot of other embassies in Malta (actually most) are not located within the city limits of (small) Valletta and the relevant articles for all those missions would have to be edited: e.g. the US embassy is in Attard, Turkey's is just outside the Valletta city walls in Floriana, Spain's is also in Ta'Xbiex, Russia's and Sierra Leone's are in San Gwann, and so on. Per general concensus, I've changed the back from Ta'Xbiex to Valletta, which is the seat of government and accreditation. Thanks! Sir Tanx (talk) 10:31, 24 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
