inclusion criteria?[edit]

Perhaps part of the reason there is edit warring going on here is that he inclusion criteria are not clear. It says it is a list of notable piano duos but I see many entries with no blue links. Seems to me like each entry should have a wikilink for either members of the duo or the duo itself, or else how are we to deer one who is and is not notable enough to be listed? Surprised to see that this list has been here for three and a half years and yet how it is constructed and maintained has apparently not ever been discussed. It's not an issue of undiscussed list criteria, it's an issue of violations of WP:LISTPEOPLE. IronGargoyle (talk) 20:32, 10 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It might be a good idea to discuss specifically how that applies to this list so that new users who are not intimately familiar with WP policies can be pointed to the relevant discussion where it was established who would and would not be included on the list. Do they need to have an article or is one mention in a single source, which seems to be all many of these entries have, sufficient? Beeblebrox (talk) 20:36, 10 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Between me and Frietjes, and the reverts being spaced over several days, I lost track of how long this editor had been at it. I would have dropped a note otherwise. It looks the IP editor has been warned for edit warring. The lack of response to that doesn't make me think any sort of policy discussion on this page would be beneficial. If they are using the undo function, they are clearly looking at the page history and can see the links to WP:LISTPEOPLE there. As for the clarity of how the policy applies in this case, it seems perfectly clear. In fact, going by the letter of the WP:LISTPEOPLE policy, even more of these entries should be removed (as the criterion is either an article on the entry or multiple independent sources). Yep, removing more of them was kind of where was heading with my remarks but I didn't want to just barge in and start doing that without checking here first. Beeblebrox (talk) 22:51, 10 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Usefullness?[edit]

I believe this list not only incomplete, but isn't going to be anything usable. There are literally tens of thousands of such ensembles. This list doesn't provide even a basic understanding of the subject. Martha Argerich alone played with dozens of pianists: Rabinovitch, Kissin, Economou, Bronfman, Freire, Tomassi, Hubert, Rivera, Baldocci, Leschenko, Babyan, Pires, Kovacevich, to name but a few; none of them listed. Neither the Emil/Elena Gilels, Demus/Badura-Skoda, Ashkenazy/Barenboim, Richter/Britten, or other grand duos are.

Any Verbier Festival provides a huge addition to the list. In my opinion, having it in this form is useless. I would propose keeping there only those ensembles, which predominantly give recitals as duos.
