How does this article not conform to the Wikipedia standard? It clearly explains the rules for every solo game used on the show since the premiere, and is not bogged down with trivial information that would only be of interest to hardcore fans of the program. -- 71.35.135.1

3 Strikes

The article says that three pricing games were victimized by a cheater: in alphabetical order Flip Flop, Shell Game and 3 Strikes. The fact isn't mentioned in the 3 Strikes part of the article. Could somebody put that in and maybe explain how exactly they cheated? The Cougar 01:30, August 26, 2005 (UTC)

As I understand it, the incident involved a woman who was down to two chips, a strike and the last number. She drew a chip out of the bag, and then quickly put it back in before anyone could see what it was- obviously she had drawn the strike. She drew the number on her next turn and won. I don't know the details, though; it would probably be better to know them before we add it to the article.Raymondluxuryacht 23:22, 12 March 2006 (UTC)

Honestly, those pretty much are the details. There is one additional, thing, though: for a few months after that episode, 3 Strikes used new strike chips that were white with red Xs instead of the normal red ones with black Xs. That indicates to me that the staff also thought she cheated and attempted to do something to keep it from happening again. TPIRFanSteve 04:20, 13 March 2006 (UTC)

Article Purpose

I've noticed people have deleted some stuff about the history of the pricing games. I think this article has more use than just to describe the rules of each game, but to describe the history and changes of each game. --CFIF 00:51, 22 September 2005 (UTC)

Except that the things that are being edited are stuff that no normal people would care about, grammar and spelling mistakes, and stuff lifted word-for-word from other websites. The goal is not to put down every minute detail about every game: it's about the rules of each one. There are websites out there that go into greater detail. --TLEberle

Actually, no -- it is about the rules. If you look at the earliest versions of this page, from when it was moved from the main The Price Is Right article, you will see that the content is overwhelmingly about the rules, with a small number of anecdotes and stats about a small number of games. I think Travis removed a lot of information that didn't really need to be in here, and I feel that his point about most people not caring about much of it is completely valid. I know he made the article sound more professional, something you don't really seem to be concerned with, CFIF. I'm going to redo the latter edits; I sincerely hope you won't remove them again. --Steve Gavazzi

I agree with you about the trivia. I've been watching TPiR for a long time, and I like learning more about the games. I know the rules by heart, but I want to learn more about them.

That's beside the point. The purpose of this article is to openly describe every pricing game, all the rules, all the games, etc.

1.) That's exactly what's being done. That doesn't mean the article has to have a billion minor details that no normal person is going to care about.

2.) You need to learn to comment correctly. I have no idea who you are without searching through the edit history, and I'm not really sure what you were responding to, either. --Steve Gavazzi

True, true. I don't want every last detail that no normal person is going to care about. You don't have to point that out everytime someone objects to the way you do things. This is a free country and a free online encyclopedia. I digress from the topic at hand. You're doing a good job, Mr. Whoever You Are.

This article is too large

This IS the topic at hand. We're discussing whether the retired pricing games section should be in another page. We all want the same quality that goes into this page into this new page. It's like the Continental Congress.

Zzyzx11, sorry for the incorrect use of terminology. I am in the process of creating new articles (so is someone else with selected games, I see). This will be a work in progress, and will be completed around my work schedule, so hang tight and look for all-new articles for each TPiR pricing game coming soon! As of this moment, the original "The Price is Right pricing games" article has been converted into a list, and moved to this new article.

Remember, the name of each pricing game is now wiki-linked to separate articles containing information about each game, pictures, trivia and much more. Each of those separate articles will have changes forthcoming in the future (namely, a infobox template detailing the important info).

None of the pricing games have links to their own Wikipedia pages. This is disappointing. The old list page, complete with photos and links to individual pages, was much better. Template

We should create a infobox template (similar to the ones on sports teams articles) that contains the name of the game, picture, year created, year retired (if still active, put N/A), top prize (car, cash, one prize, two prize, three prizes, four prizes, prize/cash, car/cash), odds, plus the rules of the game in a nutshell. I don't really care one way or the other whether the rule descriptions mention Bob (the addition of those references was Wikider's pet project, if I remember correctly), but consider this: the show's own official rule sheets for newer games have been known to mention "Bob" where you would expect to see "the host" or some other such less specific reference. Timeline edit

Also the timeline gets cut off and you cannot scroll to the right to see the rest. I don't know how to correct this. So if anyone who reads this message and knows how to change it so that you can scroll to the right or make the timeline small enough to fit on one screen without having to scroll to the right, please do so as your help will be needed and appreciated. Adding short descriptions

Since I posted the above, someone's added brief descriptions of each of the retired games as well as the active ones. The active games and their descriptions can be sourced at the show's Website, but is there any kind of reliable and acceptable sourcing for the retired games? JTRH (talk) 20:32, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
